Here’s Phil showing his separation anxiety from the other side of my hotel room door. I have no idea why there’s such a huge gap at the bottom.
Does anyone here live with a spouse/partner/roommate/family member etc that has cat allergies? My partner and I have been dating for a couple months and I spent the most time at her apartment yet (roughly 24 hours straight) the past couple days, which triggered my cat allergies for the first time, but in a big way. Just insane sinus pressure/headaches. She has already gone above and beyond with filters, vacuuming/cleaning/washing before I arrive, keeping the cat out of her room for a couple days before I come over, plus I take allergy meds. However we’re kind of at a loss now for what more can be done. Wondering if anyone has any experiences/strategies/etc they can share
Sorry to hear that! When my now wife and I first started dating she had a cat and I have cat allergies, but I was able to manage it by taking Zyrtec daily and never had any serious reactions. Maybe try a different allergy medicine and make sure you're taking it daily, not just when you're going to spend time there? I think there are also some cat foods that are supposed to reduce their dander and other allergens, but I don't know much about those.
depending where you / she lives, is it possible to have the windows open or fans on to get air circulation? If it’s winter where you are (like a legit winter lol) I get that won’t be feasible this time of year though
yeah I take Zyrtec daily, which has done the trick for evenings and overnights in the past. I’ve also taken a generic one that she has that is non drowsy but didn’t help yesterdY. Nope, legit winter lol.
My cat has been eating less over the last 2-4 days, and seems to be more lethargic today. Not sure what it means but I’m feeling worried, so I booked a vet appointment.
this happened to my dog once (idk if its the same) and all they did was give him some fluids and meds to take home. he was back to normal within a couple of hours. hope it’s the same with your cat!
Wishing you the best. If they stop eating entirely or start to feel less warm when you pet them, I'd recommend rushing in sooner than later. Recently happened to my cat after a surgery and it turned out she got kidney damage from the meds they put her on and she needed 3 days of dialysis
Yeah that sounds like what happened to my cat growing up that had kidney issues. She got fluids and was put on a strict diet and she lived 3-4 more years.
My cat knocked my MacBook off my tv stand/coffee table onto FLOOR. Not carpet. I’ve been meaning to get an area rug but haven’t found one I like within a reasonable price. Luckily it has a cover on it and seems to be working ok. It turns on and the screen is fine. But boy am I mad because if I need to buy a new one... I can’t afford it. I’ve had it for about 10 years and it’s still going good
This is a long shot but has anyone ever seen a toy that looks like this? The person that rescued our cats gave it to us when we took them home and it’s their favorite toy, they carry it everywhere. It’s falling apart and I can’t find a replacement that they like as much. It almost seems like it was part of another toy maybe? The person that rescued them got it from donations so she has no idea.
It’s just 3 little balls stuffed and strung together with string haha. I tried to make one for them and they didn’t like it. I think it might just be because they’ve had it for so long but it’s just falling apart and I’ll feel bad when it breaks. This morning I found it in my bed so they brought it to bed with them last night
Understand. My cat had a toy when I first got him that I can’t find anywhere. It was a colorful mouse teaser with a bell. Got it from the spca as part of a package. Also petsmart discontinued the felt fortune cookie toy which my cat loved
OMG I found my cats favorite toy after searching for about 2 years. Downside is it comes in a 12 pack. Probably where the spca got it and is able to give them in the “welcome home” package
