I don't remember much being a little, little kid but I do remember my dad used to sing me Rocky Raccoon every single night when I went to bed.
This is my hope. That he remembers me singing him Brand New when he was little. Sometimes he asks for Twinkle Twinkle so I oblige...man, I love my boy hah
Did any of you experience crazy dreams during the months leading up to your children being born? My wife and I have been dreaming pretty much nightly since we found out she was pregnant. They're not nightmares or anything. I keep dreaming that I have a son....
I dont remember dreams but I felt for the longest time I was having a girl until the morning of when we found out the sex I had a weird feeling that he was gonna be a boy. What have the dreams been about?

How are all your kids in social settings? My son is VERY shy for like the first 10-15 minutes anywhere we go, but then he warms up and is fine and social and plays with others. I'm getting pretty nervous because he turns 3 on Sept. 7 then will start preschool the following Monday and it'll be the first time he's dropped off by himself somewhere (he's never been in day care - my mother-in-law doesn't work so she watches him during the week). He's all excited to go to school and talks about it all the time, but I think he just realized the other day that we don't actually go with him and it freaked him out. There's been times where I'll take him to the gym with me because they have a babysitting play area and he loves it there and doesn't act shy when he first goes in, but then there are other times where we go to our friends' kids bday parties and he's just a shell for like 10 minutes before breaking out of it. I know he's only two, but it's scary to think we're going to drop him off at preschool for 2 1/2 hours and we'll have no idea how he's acting or if he's freaking out or not while we aren't there. It does help that my sister and brother-in-law live in my neighborhood and they have two kids, one the same age as my son, and my three best friends all have kids 2 and under, so he's constantly around other little kids, it's just some public places we go he's crazy shy at first.
Mine is only 1.5, but is exactly the same way. Just stays close to his parents at first, but then starts exploring and having fun.
I'm guessing it's normal, I just worry sometimes because most kids his age are in some sort of daycare and are exposed to play time with others on a daily basis and while my son is generally around other children often, it's not an every day routine for him yet.
Mine will be 2 in September and he's basically like that around other adults that he doesn't know well but if there are kids and such he's completely fine.
Gavin used to be extremely shy but he's started to socialize a lot more. Grayson is extremely social, haha. I think having Grayson around helped Gavin become willing to be more social.
Yeah, we're about to have our second child, so I'm hoping that also breaks my son out of his shell just because he'll be around another child 24/7.
My son will be 3 Sunday. He doesn't go to daycare but he will try to play with anyone and everyone regardless of age and if he's seen you before or not. It's kind of scary sometimes because he will literally go with anyone if they talk to him.
got her hair cut before school starts. can't believe she's in first grade this year. where does the time go?
Figured out a way to get my child to eat recently.... By giving him ketchup to dip everything in. Oh boy!
For those with multiple kids...how did your older kids act around newborns the first few weeks/months? My son turns 3 on Sept. 7 and my wife and I had our daughter on Aug. 17, for the most part, my son has been pretty good about the baby, but he's also had a good 4 or 5 MELTDOWNS. I spent most of my paternity leave pretty much just spending all my time with him, making sure he was still getting attention and playing and having fun, etc.
My son just ignored my daughter like the first month or two of her life. Lol. You'll do great man. If your parenting is half as good as your opinions on TBS' discography, you'll do fine.
Infant swept away in Harvey floodwaters Man, this is gut-wrenching. It would have depressed me plenty before having a child, but as a parent it's 100X worse to read. :(
Oh god I had to stop reading halfway through. You are absolutely right. Reading these kinds of stories as a parent absolutely break my heart even more. Earlier this year in May, I was driving and heard a local news story that just devastated me. There was a man living in an apartment complex with his wife and toddler. The man was with his son by the apartment pool one day while his wife was away at work. The little boy was riding his tricycle near the pool, it tipped, and he fell in. The little boy of course was too young to know how to swim so the father jumped in to try and save him, but the father didn't know how to swim either. He was struggling to pull his son to the surface while trying to stay afloat himself. They drowned together in the pool. I remember I had pulled into a parking lot at this point and just sat there for a long time.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with the geography of this area, but this is insane that they were flooded that far north. I went to college not far from there.
