Milo's bedtime have become a real struggle for me. They take like 2 hours at this point, so by the time i'm done the night is pretty much lost. None of the actual steps involved are particularly crazy, it's just a lot of him stalling and avoiding every step, and usually throwing crazy fits between each step.
robin is too young to really be expected to sleep through the night yet but holly has been a pretty consistent sleeper since around 7/8 months. we did sleep training which feels heartless at the time but is effective. she just turned 3 and basically sleeps from 8-7. we put her down at 7 and then she usually has like an hour of play time in her crib before she conks out. dinner at like 545/6, play outside until like 645/7, potty, bath, story time while we brush her hair, potty one more time, sleep sack, sleep machine, ily and we are keeping an eye on you and we will see you in the morning. done.
Over the past month I've gotten into an apartment closer to the kids so I can have them exactly half the time. I finally got the bunk bed set up for my daughters. I'm so excited to get the kids comfortable here. I feel like I'm growing up in the wrong order and slower than most people do, but I'm getting there and I'm really proud of myself. My kids have had the best attitude and have handled everything super well.
Apologies has nothing to do with parenting and I can’t find the House Improvement/Decorating thread. Hired someone to replace my roof and exterior paint. They’ve found an issue with my AC Unit on my roof and now I need to replace that too. I’m so fucked.
all three of us got hit by a stomach bug. i initially thought it was food poisoning but i guess one of his daycare buddies was kept home on wednesday because of vomiting. i was the first to go down, then the little one, now the wife. so cool so fun
What is it with 3 year olds liking Imagine Dragons? When my oldest was 3 he loved them, his mom would listen to the radio and they’d come on and he’d react. I came home from work today and my youngest was like listen to this song dad and it was freakin’ Imagine Dragons. He doesn’t even really listen to music!
Literally my 7yo likes them and I’m upset. But it also makes him happy and he’s interested in music. He’s also really enjoyed Japandroids when I played them for him so I’ll keep trying.
They make music for adults with the taste of children so it makes sense. My 10-year-old nephew also loves them, and Mr. Beast
My 5 year old sleeps in our room almost every night. She falls asleep in her room but comes in and sleeps on a mat on the floor most evenings. her favorite song right now is the fox the crow the cookie by mewithoutyou because she loves the music video. Very proud dad
Same here, our 4 year old falls asleep in her bed but crawls in between my wife and I almost every night.
My oldest also liked New Found Glory and Anberlin when he was younger. Still kinda does. He likes Skiba era Blink too because that’s what was going on when he was a toddler. But now he mainly likes whatever he hears from his friends, terrible rap. But some still remains
15 month old in a very standard routine of starting the night in his crib and finishing it in the bed between us. except the past two nights where the idea of going to bed is insane to him
We went and got some groceries and a takeaway pizza tonight. My parents were round so we just jumped out. Felt like a date night for all it was an hour. Probably should make more time for ourselves than we do.
Took my son to his first play today. At the venue where I played the last of only 2 shows I played with my teenage pop punk band back in 2004. Tried to explain it to him. He didn't understand/care.
Our baby turned 1 a few weeks ago. Still to this day, I feel like every time I look at her she looks different, I can't really explain it. My wife is still pissed that she looks more like me than her (she has my eyes and hair).
Our one-year-old has 1000% started preferring my wife to me and it's a bit of a bummer haha. I don't need to be the favorite, but I wish he lit up when he saw me like he does anytime he sees her
i asked my 19 month old if i could carry her out to the car this morning and she told me "no" and snugged her mom hard lol. it definitely comes in phases, just power through and be the best dad you can be.
Yep my 4 and 6 year olds still pendulum back and forth between my wife and I with who their favorite parent is depending on what they need/want. I'm always my 6 year old's favorite when he wants to play video games and get Pokemon cards. Then mom's the favorite when there's an injury or he needs someone to talk to about an issue.
There was like a full month where i was such a clear favorite i almost wanted to distance myself from him because i felt so bad for my wife lol. “No mama” and “I want dada snugs” were almost catch phrases for him until I became chop liver overnight
