My 13-month old did that this today - pretty sure she's teething as well. I looked at the monitor when I woke up at 5:00 and she was just sitting up, not even crying or anything, so I have no idea when she actually woke up, and she laid back down for maybe a few minutes before 7:00 when I usually get her up.
Oh lord, not noticing she's awake on the monitor is one of my biggest fears because that little daredevil would absolutely try to climb out of her crib.
Yeah my kids definitely have had teething nights that lead to awake, Tylenol solves it sometimes but it's kinda hard to gauge when is a good time for medicine or not
our daughter lost her first tooth yesterday. my wife went all out on the tooth fairy stuff. sprinkled pink glitter all over our daughter's room, bought a special little pillow with a pocket to leave the tooth which she then filled with special 'treasure' like two $2 bills (because our daughter is 4) with glitter all over them. Our kid loved it!
We did the 3 day method and my son had maybe 1-2 accidents the entire process. Super easy, would highly recommend. You just need to be at home with them for 3 days straight https://www.amazon.com/dp/1623157900/?tag=absolutepunk-20 no diapers, no going back to diapers outside of pullups overnight, schedule, positive reinforcement (small treat, sticker chart)
yeah we did 2.5 at home too while on parental leave with our youngest over a weekend and by monday she was doing it herself. basically just put pads all over the house (we had a ton anyways for the lil guy haha) and mini potties throughout the house and basically just sat her on it like every 20 minutes the first day, every hour the second, and every two hours the third. basically just had her in undies the whole weekend so it could quickly come off to pee when needed. be prepared for a lot of accidents the first day. honestly, the accidents help, because they dislike it so much that they're encouraged to go after. we also did like a "celebration" getting rid of all the diapers (just putting them outside lol) and she was pretty excited to do it. basically just try to make it "fun" so they aren't like terrified and annoyed doing it.
We did stickers for pee and the trader joes mini reeses cups for a poop and I will never not associate them with poop now
Walked out of our bedroom at 4am this morning to discover our son has learned to both escape his crib and open his bedroom door, neither of which he’s done at any point let alone in blackout curtain darkness, so I guess it’s floor bed time
My four month old started making this high pitched pterodactyl screech. I thought she was in pain, but she smiles while doing it and I think it’s a new laugh. She hasn’t stopped doing it all day now.
My 11-year-old son, thus far in 2026, has had: • COVID • Strep • Flu B - which led to an overnight hospital stay thanks to a bad case of viral myositis • And now the stomach flu (which I am sure he will be generous enough to pass along to the rest of the house!) Rough year.
Fuckin sucks. My 6 year old has had Flu A, Strep, and the stomach bug. 15 month old had Flu A and a couple ear infections and just tested positive for RSV today. So tired of it.
Can people with ~3 year olds please describe their child’s bedtime routine in a way that makes me feel like my kids bedtime isn’t historically awful every night?
