My parenting advice for Disney World is to not go to Disney World.

  2. I enjoyed going as an uncle and look forward to going as a Dad - especially if I get to take my mom with us, who has never gone

Jealous…the one in Orlando got bulldozed and replaced with Diagon Alley/Wizarding World of Harry Potter lol

Sadly im not a huge Potter head and my 6 year old has shown some passing interest in the movies when they’ve been on TV but hasn’t really gotten into them

  6. My Disney advice is get as many lightning lanes as you can

I never had very strong feelings about the time change until I had an infant. It’s incredible how much a one hour change can upend your life when your baby is a sensitive sleeper lol

Our cat simply tolerates our almost 2yo and that’s probably as far as it will go lol. She is shockingly patient with him though considering he’s always been super interested in her. I’m quick to intervene if he comes in too hot or grabs her tail but still surprised she hasn’t taken a swipe at certain points

  10. Yeah, my cats are interested but keep their distance. They love to come around if he's sleeping lol. They definitely get stressed out when he's screaming.

My cat came from a family member with two young children when she was a kitten. So I used to call our house a spa retreat compared to there.

She has been curious but mostly keeps herself to herself. My partner and her were inseparable and I think the cats nose is a bit out of joint. Tbh , i do feel bad. She even now comes to me for pats. She never did them that before. Will often take herself away if he’s crying or if family are round to visit.

I ended up buying a ridiculously expensive cat tree as she’s a large main coon as I felt guilty. She loves it and I’ve put it in our living room so she’s well involved with everything.

I would say she loves to jump in his pram and Moses basket when he’s not in it, which does my head in.

Winter came for us super early this year in the Rust Belt, so I'm trying to think of more fun indoor things to do with my two-year old. I'm so used to going to the park, the playground or something fun outside but draw a blank when it starts to get dark before five in the afternoon. She has fun at my place, but I always like taking her to playgrounds & she loves exploring nature. The kids museums and stuff in Madison, Chicago & Milwaukee can also be pricey.

  14. I didn’t read they were 2 maybe too young lol. Libraries have a ton of programs. Book stores will sometimes have events for kids as well.

Also check your library for discounted or possibly free admission tickets to museums

update: we did indeed go and I coughed up the $$ for the Epic Universe fast pass things for two of us since one of us was always gonna have to be with the baby. We got here yesterday and did Epic and it was amazing. Kid had the time of his life I don’t know if I’ve ever seen him happier.

Takinf a day to rest today than Disney the next two days. Gonna try and pick some rides to do flash pass for

epic or Disney? My only “complaint” for epic was the Yoshi ride (which isn’t really a “ride” more like a tramcar thing) was down which he would have loved. The one coaster in the how to train your dragon world was the first line we got in when we got in the park and it went down right before we go on. They said extended delay so we bailed lol. It wasn’t up and running again until later in the night so we were able to go back and hit it up.

Be prepared to spend a little extra $$ for the bracelets in super Mario world that unlock the little mini games. I mean maybe as an adult you can resist but there was no saying no to my 6 year old when we realized he could play the mini games and do the bowser jr challenge if he got a Mario bracelet thingy (forget what they’re called)

I'm now realizing this whole time you've been talking about Florida Disney and universal, not California Disney and universal

Yeah I'm an east coaster haha.

I've never been to California disney and have only been to Orlando once, when i was 8 years old. And that one only happened because my mom won one of those "be the 104th caller and you get the prize" radio contests lol. If she didn't win that we never woulda been able to afford a disney trip. We had extended family down in Florida so maybe someday but doubtful. Back then we got to do one day in each park (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Universal Studios, and then our choice between MGM and Seaworld). This was such an impromptu trip and our budget not infinite that we're only doing 3 days in the parks. We have the airBNB for 4 nights, so the plan was Epic sunday, Disney today and tomorrow, but we were so wiped out from the long day at Epic (we stayed until 10 PM) that we decided to take the day off today and do the disney parks tuesday and wednesday lol.

Anyone else have a kid go through a phase where they play with something that is very clearly not a toy? My daughter has been dragging around a roll of measuring tape for days saying it's her 'dog' lol

at least she's not using the husks of cicadas as dolls
