Thoughts on best activities to do for an introduction between 2 kids and their parent's new partner? We weren't sure if it's better to just casually come over for a movie or if it's better to do something out of the home?

Out of home. Depending on age take them to a playground or something, lots of other parents around and you won't feel singled out can blend in a little more.

I never really post in here because well I'm not a parent lol but does anybody in here Foster?

I work within the system and there was a time that I filled out the application to Foster for a child specific case but thankfully they were able to place that child with his sibling so I never finished the certification process

It's not uncommon to hear workers within the system lament that they want to take a kid home with them because they're so sweet or whatever but more and more I just really feel like called to do that and that I could do it. But because I work within the system I don't think anyone takes me seriously

I don't think that about every kid I meet and I've only ever felt that way about a handful of children. That I really do think I could successfully Foster them for reunification or be a guardian if reunification didn't pan out, and me and the kid just click on a compatibility sense.

There's a kiddo I feel that way about now and who I think would really want to live with me, but also recognizing that there's a difference between me occasionally interacting with them and getting to be the fun adult who doesn't have to tell them what to do and the shift in dynamic that would occur

Idk. It's just something I've been mulling over in my head more seriously lately

I second what @colorlesscliche is saying. A nice park would be a great place. Especially if there are picnic tables so you can bring some food and make the most of it.

our kid is about twenty pounds. we’ve been using size 5 diapers but she’s been having frequent blowouts… sized down to 4s but it’s still happening. any vets in here have go-to diapers they use(d) that stand / stood up to the poopiest of butts? pampers cruisers were our latest failure.

I'm very very lucky that our daycare basically potty trained my son without us doing anything lol. That being said, he pisses outside the toilet so much, which is very very annoying to clean

He does, but you have to train boys to point the penis into the toilet instead of straight forward and all over the floor

Little dude finished his first year in Cub Scouts by earning his Bear rank and I made a bunch of dad friends. Fun stuff!

Have not, would not make dad friends. Would rather talk to dads in the parenting thread of a music forum

This. I live in a red state. I don't need republican friends. I'm busy enough as it is. I don't want to have to put myself out there like that.

I feel this. I’m in New Hampshire so most of the other parents are either wanna be southerner right wing nut jobs or liberal granola Boston transplants, so it’s a real coin flip with what you’re gonna get haha. I’d only consider myself “friends” with two other moms, but the rest I just keep it strictly business.
