Put on the first 20min of Flow before bedtime last night and my guy was locked tf in. Maybe I can get around with having that on in a crunch instead of Ms Rachel or Bluey lol (i love Bluey)
Got to Disneyland this morning Wife and I look at each other, both... "I thought you grabbed the diaper bag" I'm now back in line from the hour round trip home and back, whoops
I forgot the diaper bag the first like two or three times it happened, so now every time she forgets it it’s automatically my fault again. This despite the fact I’ve been advocating since birth to have a cheap diaper bag with the basics in my trunk at all times Gotta start keeping score. Or just remembering the bag
I've tried to keep my kid off of youtube as much as possible, which is easier since he doesn't have a tablet, but my wife and mom both let him find stuff on youtube and it's infuriating. Luckily he's mostly into animal stuff so a decent amount of it is educational, but he still finds these really dumb AI generated videos of animals, and has found like Godzilla compliation clips set to songs and that's annoying. But he likes some of the songs from those videos now so now he wants to watch them even more. Before all this his only youtube exposure was music videos, he likes watching music videos and rocking out to the music and stuff. He was obsessed with Creeper's video for Teenage Sacrifice for a long time lol. Called it the "blood song" thanks to the thumbnail
Ok so I've heard so much rave about the show but that's literally my worry, that it might be too much to take in as a dad
We got rid of YouTube and went to YouTube kids which isn’t much better but all he watches is SpongeBob clips and people playing Minecraft so it hasn’t been too bad.
Youtube Kids almost worries me more because of all the Elsagate stuff and videos targeted to traumatize kids that manage to fly under the radar.
The problem with YouTube Kids is that there’s so much literal brain rot on there. Cocomelon is probably the biggest example. The way shows like that stimulate a tots brain is doing more harm than good in the long run. This article breaks it down better than me haha. When my son was a tot I pretty much only had him watch PBS Kids. Why Kids’ Shows Like ‘Cocomelon’ Hamper Critical Brain Development
My personal hell is waiting in the parent pickup line. Whether you try to get there early or you try to get there towards the end, you always have to wait. This is what you have to look forward to, new parents! When he starts middle school he’ll be able to take the bus which I am very happy about.
This eats an hour of my day no matter what I do. Leave early? An hour. Show up later? An hour. It's torture.
Not to mention the constant whistle blowing of these old women who let the power of the whistle go straight to their head. And the constant paranoia that you’re gonna run a kid over you didn’t see. Or you get rear ended by a rich lady in a big ass brand new Denali and blames you for not moving forward when there wasn’t anywhere to move forward so after you refuse to pay a few thousand bucks for a new bumper she sends you a certified letter from an attorney so you have to fight with your insurance company to get them to take care of all this nonsense for you because it’s 10000% their fault. Anyways…..
Really struggling with having to go back to work on Wednesday, particularly with missing out on formative time with him and having no idea how a sleep schedule is going to work or how I'm going to focus. If anyone has advice, I'm all ears.
