Truly jealous of people with great sleeping babies/toddlers. It must be such a wildly different parenting experience lol

It’ll pass, I promise! And if it’s anything like my experience, it’ll be like a switch got flipped and boom… sound and steady and consistent sleeper.

  3. As a night owl, I've pretty much been staying up with ours until anywhere between 4 and 6am while my wife sleeps and then sleeping myself until about noon while she takes the morning shift, but it's definitely not sustainable with me going back to work in a few weeks, so I need to start readjusting. It's just so much easier for me to stay up vs. waking up in the middle of the night.

I just bought a pair of kids books that I think a lot of us will get a kick out of. I got my first pop punk and my first emo abcs books. Who knows if my son will even like them, but I really like this art style and feel good supporting the artist

Probably my favorite discovery since having kids. It's enlightening tbh. Really wish it didn't get cancelled.

On the bright side, my oldest is starting to get into Pokemon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so it's exciting I can start sharing stuff with him from my youth...though I think he might still be a bit young for the 1990 TMNT which is a classic to me.

We reach for the longest shadow

I introduced OG Pokemon to my kid and he was interested, but my wife didn't love it. Probably wait a few more years. I've been slow feeding him cards though and he digs it.

I know it's cliche but I adore Bluey. I try to get him to watch it, but I think he's starting to phase out of it. I'll probably watch new episodes without him if they come out with more.

I remember back when my son was a little younger, he got pulled into Pokemon because of Journeys on Netflix so we decided it was time to get him rolling on the original series. He loved it so much and watched it all the way through Diamond and Pearl. It was fun too because I'd stop at certain points so we could watch the movies that occurred during each season. Eventually he got bored because, I mean, it is terribly repetitive. Then I got to introduce him to my personal favorite, Digimon, and that was a whole other ball game. I got to take him to the theater to see Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning when that came out, just him and I, and that was such a cool experience to share with him. He's got a binder full of Pokemon cards and a separate binder full of Digimon cards as well as a bunch of stuffies from both series.

Sharing your interests with your kids and seeing how they respond and form their own relationships with them is so fascinating to watch. I've gotten him into The Legend of Zelda, which he's obsessed with, Kirby, Mighty Max (both the show and the toys), Duck Tales (showed him the original for a few episodes as well as the Treasure of the Lost Lamp movie so that we could familiarize him with the series before jumping into the newer series, which he also loved), and a whole bunch of movies that my wife and I loved as kids. We recently showed him Good Burger and he laughed his ass off through the whole thing. Parenting can be challenging at times, but man it's so fun.

Oh and we've also watched a whole bunch of shows together - as well as with my daughter - and it's become a thing now where they're both like "what show are we going to watch through next?" So far we've watched:

    She-Ra
    Avatar: The Last Airbender
    Avatar: The Legend of Korra
    Voltron: Legendary Defender
    The Owl House
    Amphibia
    Gravity Falls
    Duck Tales
Star vs. The Forces of Evil
    Over The Garden Wall

Next we're starting either Kipo, Steven Universe, Niko and the Sword of Light, Wolfboy and The Everything Factory, or Jentry Chau (though we're not sure about this one so far because it's only one season with no word as to whether or not it's been picked up for another season and I don't want to let them down).

Yeah, 01 is definitely my favorite as well as my son's. Second favorite for me is Tamers. Starts out a little rough adjusting to the new world and characters, but once it really gets going it gets dark. My son and I watched:

    Digimon Adventure
02 - then stop like halfway through for:
Digimon: The Movie (warts and all)
    Finished 02
    02: Revenge of Diaboromon
    Digimon Tri
    Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna
    Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning
    Digimon Tamers

We never got around to the other series, but I'd love to get back to it some time. My son keeps asking me if they've made another movie yet to close out the Adventure team's story. Last Evolution and The Beginning still haven't reached the 02 epilogue's ending so I'm expecting they will at some point.

    I fucking love Digimon lol.

They fixed your brain when you were young.

My wife and I are going to be first time parents in July. I have a ton of thoughts/questions/concerns, but just keeping it to the most top of mind thing at this point, does anyone here have any cloth diaper recommendations? I've been put in charge of doing R&D, and am kind of losing my mind with all the options.

My wife and I tried doing cloth diapers for our oldest son, and it went alright. He took to them just fine, and from a sustainability standpoint, it worked well. It was a lot of legwork for us in terms of doing laundry which just became untenable once my wife's maternity leave ended. Expect to do a ton of laundry. We eventually switched to Pampers Pure for him, which our youngest also used. Hate that we had to do it, but it was just a necessity in terms of time as parents working full-time jobs.

I can have specific recs on brands for cloth diapers later as my wife did that research.

  18. Our boy's butt rash has improved tremendously, but now it looks like he's getting contact dermatitis from the scented Pampers, which ofc we have tons of from the baby shower. Of course he got our skin lol. If it's not one thing, it quickly becomes another.

Recs would definitely be appreciated. My wife works from home full time and I’m hybrid, so we’re slightly optimistic we’ll be able to rock the cloth diapers. She works in the climate space, so it’s important to her to at least try. I’m sure we’ll use some disposables or at least hybrids when we have people watch the baby, but I think we’re hopeful we might be able to use covers and inserts throughout the week.

Pretty sure I’ve read a few things saying the difference in environmental impact between cloth and disposable diapers is negligible considering how much extra energy and water you use with all the extra laundry. I’m sure it’s still better tho

We tried cloth diapers for a short time but they weren’t for us. It was only practical while at home and my washing machine couldn’t keep up. I’d end up having to run them twice to get the stank out. Go for it if you have the resources, but if you have to use disposables, don’t feel guilty about it!

I understand the intent and wish to help the environment (in theory), but everything that it entails is just not realistic for me or my family

Yeah, Digimon as a brand is a little all over the place so it's hard to know where to start and stop. If you follow that list I posted, that's the entire Adventure journey so far, save for Tamers as that's its own separate thing. Tamers takes place in a universe where Digimon Adventure is a show within the world of the show. Further down the road in a whole other series, there is a "crossover" event where all the goggle headed leaders from the teams meet up, but that's... difficult to describe lol. 02: Revenge of Diaboromon is a little difficult to track down, but that's what the ol' Archive is for:

Digimon Revenge Of Diaboromon HD : 4RealAnime : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Digimon Tri is the 01 Adventure team in late high school and it's...pretty divisive amongst fans. It's worth a watch to see the rest of the team finally gets their Megas, but there are certainly a lot of frustrating elements. I purchased the whole series on AppleTV, though I know it's also on Crunchyroll. Last Evolution Kizuna is the follow up movie to that series where the Adventure team is now in college and it focuses mainly on the 01 team, although the 02 team does show up. That one's also divisive amongst the fans due to the ending. I personally love it. It's the Toy Story 3 ending of Digimon lol. Plus, due to the 02 epilogue, we know there will be more to the story at some point. 02: The Beginning is the next movie after that and it focuses solely on the 02 team... and that one is also once again pretty divisive amongst fans largely due to the ending. I think the animation in both movies is gorgeous and I have a lot of love for them both. So that's where the original Adventure storyline currently sits with the tease of more to come down the road. All the other series are essentially their own thing, with some tangential connections to Adventure, the most recent one being Ghost Game. I've got love for Tamers because it gets really dark in the second half and tells a pretty intense story about depression and loss, which is impressive for a children's animated series from the early 2000s.
