At what point to we create an off-shoot of this forum for the forum kids to talk to each other about how annoying we all are?

Someone already said it but the recovery/hospitalization time really is a wonderful thing if the circumstances are ideal. For example our first was a nightmare stay. My wife was in active labor for 2 days and we stayed total 5-6 days I wanna say. Absolutely brutal. However our second was only like 2 hours active labor and we were out in 2 days. The entire time after we had him we were so experienced and ready for what to do that it felt like a mini vacation before our PTO even started. Plus our hospital staff were exceptional the second time around. We felt like everyone was not only accommodating but very personal. Our first stay we just kept getting different nurses and doctors that we felt weren’t communicating.

so yeah second child was a much more relaxed experience for many reasons and there’s no handbook how it’s gonna play out for the first but it’s a great time regardless!

Just know @Aaron Mook that you’re gonna be both great parents and we’re here for any questions/concerns as well as venting which is all apart of the process the first couple months. Cheers

  10. Lol thank you for the kind words everyone, sincerely. I have never been more in love or more terrified of hurting something in my life. We are also running on like six hours sleep combined for the last two days, so if we can figure out a plan for feeding (we're having trouble latching and pumping) and if his heart test comes back all good (he has a muscular VSD), I will feel significantly less insane.

I've never felt this level of anxiety about wanting something else to be healthy/okay/not hurt in my life.

Man, for both Milo and Maisie they needed to go straight into an oxygen mask after birth because their lungs were having a hard time fully inflating and those 5-15 minutes were some of the most terrifying of my life. Looking forward to everything coming back okay so you can get out of that zone.

  12. Today’s the day for us - going in for induction (fortunately not a medically urgent induction like last time).

Can't promise that will get better lol. I'm constantly worried about my boy, especially as he was 10 weeks premature and seems to have at least SOME asthma because of it. He's been in the hospital 5 times for various respiratory illnesses, so you know, covid being a constant threat and flu season is a lot of fun. He wears a mask at school and doesn't seem to hate it, but I feel bad asking/having him do that. Between his own health, my heart issues (new ones I am almost 100% certain were sparked by my latest covid infection last march), and now his little newborn brother, it's for the best. But it sucks. In years past we've been able to let him take it off during the fall and spring, but the covid numbers were super high this fall and my wife was pregnant so we've had to take no chances. Now it's double bad with flu/covid/rsv all roaming around in high-ish numbers and a newborn that has no immunity to them.

So, yeah....existential dread at all times!

I’ll never forget the car ride home from the hospital with our firstborn…I was going like, 12 MPH because I was terrified driving with a newborn in the car.

My kids are now 10 and 7 and the worrying/fear never stops.

But eventually, you start going the speed limit again.

  16. Still waiting on fetal echo, but day two went quite a bit better. Lots of coffee, got a second wind, mom got a lot of rest (and then I did), baby passed his other tests and got his first bath. He's got me posting at straight-up European hours though
