So we got my five year old an iPad for his birthday back in April and we think we've noticed a consistent increase in behavioral issues since then. And we're attributing it to the iPad because nothing else has really changed. We got it so he could watch things like Disney + or play a game when he wakes up at 6am instead of bothering us but it has morphed into a dependency. So we took it away and hope it corrects that.
I’m dealing with that right now with my daughter, got her one for her 6th birthday and it’s becoming a problem with her behavior about it too.
Haven't posted much in this thread before, but thought I'd join the fun. Meet Elias. 11-months old, and the absolute best thing that's ever happened to me. A happy, curious little dude whose smile and laughter has changed my life. Also, he's obsessed with Sesame Street, and considering it's been about 29 years since I've watched that show, I've forgetten how wholesome, and fucking amazing it is. I genuinely love it, best mix of heart/education and fucking hilarity. So good. I love being this kids dad, so much.
Haha, living in Australia it's odd we haven't fallen into the Bluey realm yet. It's on the list everyone, I'll start it this weekend with him and report back. I've heard nothing but amazing things.
I can’t tell you how many times my kids have had strep. My son (9) gets it probably 2-3 times per year and he gets every symptom you can imagine - mostly very high fever, stomach pain and throwing up. Very rare that it’s his throat that hurts. My daughter (6) has had it a lot too, but luckily she seems to handle pretty much all illnesses pretty well. She typically gets strep rash and nothing else too significant. They have had it so many times that we have had the very rare “rapid test negative, but lab test comes back positive” situation happen about 5 times and every time they tell us how unlikely that is.
We are supposed to fly to Florida on Friday and I am terrified that someone is going to get sick before then. Dreading Halloween tomorrow because it’s supposed to be high 30s and wet/flurries and they’ll be around a ton of people and that’s the last thing I need 3 days before getting on a flight. We have the worst luck when it comes to these type of things.
My dude was pretty dang sick today, instead of his normal 2 naps, he took like 6??? Super stuffy, a cough, and sad cries:( hoping it's mostly just today
One time I had strep so bad that I lost a lot of usage of my legs. Like I could drag them around but I couldn’t pick them up without using my arms. That was my only symptom so I went to the doctor to see what the hell was wrong with me and they were like oh you just have strep you’re fine. Go home and rest after we give you this shot. It was the weirdest thing ever
Any talk of removing tonsils? Our ENT doctor said if she gets it six times in a year they would recommend removal, she’s had it 3 times this year. This is my first time catching it since she’s been getting it. Edit: quoted the wrong post but you know which I meant to respond to lol
Our pediatrician has brought it up, but it hasn’t reached 5, 6, 7x per year. Plus, I’m petrified of anyone having that surgery.
Can confirm the "Fall in love with Sesame Street again" anecdote, I loved it as a kid and then didn't watch it for decades for obvious reasons and now I love it again. There's so many funny jokes on there. My son's favorite is Monster Foodies. Also just saw this article yesterday that they're changing up the format again, and getting away from the "magazine style", which I really hope doesn't mean getting rid of things like Elmos world, Monster Foodies, etc. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t...g-format-tales-from-123-season-56-1235623888/
We are going to be in vacation during parent teacher conferences so the teacher emailed my wife and I saying she still wants to meet and talk about his behavior and we can do a virtual conference on Nov 16. Which is fine but geez gonna make me wait two weeks to know what the behavior issues are? So I emailed her back and she said it's nothing urgent just that he whines or complains when he doesn't get his way. Which isn't great but also on the lower end of things. My mind was running wild with him being an asshole or terrorizing the classroom.
damn how real is the 2 year (becoming a toddler) sleep regression? our daughter is suddenly waking up at like 4 AM every night and fighting bedtime more despite being a perfectly sleep trained little angel up to this point lol
Ear infection on Christmas. Can’t get her in to see anyone and waiting 8 hours at the emergency room doesn’t seem like a great option. Ugh
