went to the fair the other day... she absolutely HATES coasters, which is sad since I grew up a huge coaster freak/nerd. But then, that was a fair coaster so not the best first thing to try. She loved everything else though, so there's hope...
Three. She's okay with most fair rides, but not crazy fast ones. I can't wait until she's tall enough to ride the big coasters.
Okay, so, I felt my baby's first kicks on Mother's Day (what timing) and every now and then since then I feel the little flutters. I really wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this but it's pretty indescribable. It kinda makes me feel bad that males will never get a chance to ever feel something this incredible...!
This is awesome! Congrats! I remember the first time mine kicked me in the face cuz i was laying on my wife's belly to see what he'd do haha.
Yeah my wife said the last few months were pretty excruciating when they're pushing against your pelvis! When is your due date again?
YEP! Oh I was thinking it was closer than that, the time will fly by though, i'm sure right now you're thinking "Oh that's still 5 months away! I have plenty of time!" It'll definitely sneak up on you before you know it! This summer should be wonderful for you haha! Not sure where you live but here in Texas it's really hot the entire summer and the wife wasn't thrilled by that since she's a big beach/pool/water person. Not only looking like a blimp in her bathing suit but also the fact your skin gets burned easier and such.
Yeah I know what you mean about time flying because I can't even believe I'm almost 19 weeks. Next Thursday I go for my 20 week ultrasound for the anatomy check. Excited. And that's halfway! I live in the worst place in the country for heat haha Arizona, and the hottest city in AZ...it will get up to 125 or so. I am going to be absolutely miserable. :(
Get yourself lots of books or whatever you like to do and don't leave the house EVER haha! Speaking of, have you or are you going to read any baby books on anything? This goes for the whole thread as well, did anybody read anything beforehand?
I know huh? Never leave the A/C!!! I actually haven't picked up any books because I just keep reading things online for free. But I actually should at least pick up a comprehensive book like What To Expect or whatever. I'm sure there are tons of things I have no idea about.
For us I didn't read a thing, because i didn't want any preconceived notions for what to "expect" or what he "should" be like. Good thing I didn't either because from what I can tell, this child is not like anything i've read about haha.
I think i remember us getting a free copy of that book in the mail from Gerber or something like that before he arrived. How these companies find you, I have no fucking clue but they do and send you free shit!
I think insurance typically covers a free breast pump as well, if you're breastfeeding that is. I can't vouch for that cuz we didn't but we had a friend that did and they got it for free. May want to look into that.
I knew literally nothing about what to do. It all still worked out obviously haha, I've only read one book for childcare and it's about raising a child with Asperger's (It's highly likely Gavin has Asperger's based on his current behavior and the fact that I have it). People say all the time "You learn as go and as you need to", and it really is true, you really do.
I didn't fully read it, but someone gave me a book on calming techniques like swaddling called The Happiest Baby On The Block. Would you like it @yourfaveweapon ? I was keeping it for future reference but it's not looking like I'll be having more kids anytime soon I also borrowed one called When Men Are Pregnant
Oh y'all went the natural route? I can't imagine how it would feel w/o an epidural. Is Asperger's genetic? Couldn't agree more! We read like message boards and stuff like that for certain things and most of those people on there I feel are horrible so we stopped. Haha oh god, THAT book! Did it work for you?
That was the plan! But she went into labor around 9-10AM, it was 1AM and still no baby and she was exhausted and felt helpless so she ended up getting the epidural, slept from 2AM-430AM, woke up and the baby was here at 6AM. She regrets doing it, but knew it was the best option because she didn't want to have to push while she was exhausted.
Good lord that's a LONG labor!! I don't doubt she was exhausted, i'm exhausted just hearing that! How's your little one doing? Sleeping alright?
