That would be odd for them to re-record one of their bigger hit songs, but I guess I wouldn't put it past them.
Well, it's not unheard off. And the song is 24 years old...which makes me feel old too, cause I remember buying the single when it came out According to Spotify, Single will come out tomorrow apparently:
The re-recorded Dirty Magic was pretty good tbf Speaking of re-recorded songs, We Never Have Sex Anymore was written before Americana; can't believe they're putting it out now. Interesting that there's no song called It Won't Get Better. I wonder if that song is still on the album under a different title or if it was re-written. I will check this out, but I'm going to be cautious. The big problem with Days Go By for me was it felt uninspired. Not like Offspring by the numbers, but like they are genuinely struggling to write songs. So you ended up with an album that was equal parts trend-hopping (The Future is Now = Rise Against, Days Go By = Foo Fighters) and re-recordings and revisited songs from old demos. Plus some godawful joke songs. And yet... there was All I Have Left is You, and at the end of the album you got the one-two punch of Dividing By Zero and Slim Pickens. This band can still write great music when they want to. It just seems they don't want to any more. I want to be excited for this band, but then I see they're including Coming For You - which is six years old at this point - and We Never Have Sex Anymore... really doesn't fill me with confidence. Not to mention that it's an album that's been in the works for this long and they're barely scraping 30 minutes runtime, which is a big red flag that suggests getting this out was tough. Not to sound like a downer, but, I was genuinely pretty excited for new Offspring when they first teased a new album. But that was so long ago at this point.
Yeah I'll listen to it, but it's hard to get excited for a song from 2015, two songs that are barely a minute, and possibly a re-recording of an old song haha
Makes sense. Is that title a pun on something? Half-expected them to include Sharknado (which I actually kind of like in a dumb way)
New single is out in Australia, sounds pretty interesting, bit over the place, more pop-rock than anything. But better than anything on Days Go By in my opinion.
The Offspring - Let The Bad Times Roll The Offspring | Official Store Pre-Orders are up too. That marbled blue LP looks quite nice.
I actually like it quite a bit, really nice to hear something new and like it. I'm not expecting the Offspring to make their best album in 2021 but as long as it's pretty solid like this I'll be happy
I can't decide which side of the political aisle they land on? That song was extremely politically driven, "lock her up" "Build a wall" "The truth get's erased" can someone tell me if they are supporting Trump or against him... because the song confused me... Also, pretty weak song in my mind, Rise & Fall was great so I have hopes that the album can still be dope.
But is it making fun of the Alt-right or siding with them? I'd like to think they are making fun of them but honestly, I can't tell if they are serious or not.
I can pretty confidently say, on past experience, the Offspring are not going to intentionally write a song favouring the alt-right. Looking at the lyrics it's going for the same sarcastic tone they've pulled off a lot more successfully in songs like Stuff is Messed Up. Bad Religion did the same in The Kids Are Alt-Right (and did it a lot better).
