i lost mad respect for them after what they did to Atom and Greg, plus the music hasn't been good so it's been easy to dismiss them. i only saw them last year because it was 25 bucks, AND simple plan/sum41 were also there. at the end of the day for me, its fuck the offspring (noodles & dexter)
This is pretty much the same expectation I have for any legacy band at this point. If I can get 2-4 songs I want to listen to on a semi-regular basis, throw on playlists, or whatever? I'm happy. Especially for a band like the Offspring who IMHO have one great album (Ixnay), and have followed pretty much the same exact formula with their releases over the years.
Everything I've ever read about that split made it seem quite amicable, and was basically the result of Atom having gigs in other bands (specifically, Angels & Airwaves) so he didn't have the time needed for the Offspring at the time. And he was never really a core part of the group. So I'm really not sure what any of that's all about. He was in the band for four years. If the band had had a rolling rotation of drummers since then, I'd maybe be on the train of "those guys are dicks" but... Before that and after that, there's been consistency. What happened with Greg is... I dunno. It just seemed like sour grapes, TBH.
Lost all respect for them AND don’t like the music. Yet bought a ticket to their show. You showed them!!!
i didn't buy it, my friend did because she kept missing sum 41 and wanted to see em before they broke up LOL and they were 25 bucks for some sale.
It's absolutely wild that my main complaint about these guys is the glaring inconsistency in production/mixing on their last album. Just make an album with anyone but Bob Rock and get it properly mixed! lol Edit: looks like they went with Rock again lol
GhostDiaper liked this post, so I just want to say, until it's actually out, I'm still fully expecting this. Prove me wrong, Dexter Holland.
Predicting it now: 11 tracks - two of those tracks will be instrumentals/interludes, and one will be 'The Kids Aren't Alright (2024)'
Ever wanted to see Brian May play with The Offspring as they cover Queen's Stone Cold Crazy? Here you go.
