  1. What the fuck? People make fun of us for our accents, then turn around and tell us we're too Americanized? Can't have it both ways, assholes.

Can I just say what an overwhelming sense of satisfaction I get from "winning" a political argument about racism. ☺

Like their ideology becoming that of a white conservative persons, basically their political lineage has become anti their own people and basing it in incorrect facts that basically a racist would make up

I think the way you go about it is what's important. Don't act like you know what they've been through or you know why they think this way. Ask questions and answer accordingly instead of throwing insults or direct accusations. Honestly, the left and liberals in general would do better to convince people this way, by asking and answering, and then explaining why their line of thinking is harmful and detrimental to their own people. and RWers are the ones who are always yelling "facts not feelings" so you can show them as many facts as possible and then explain why things are that way, and then realize that their way of thinking is really about "feelings" because of how their ideology literally targets specific groups of people. So point out inconsistencies, as well. It depends on the conversation, who you're talking to, etc. Just remind yourself that you don't know what it's like to be them, let alone them as a POC. Remember to be calm, don't insult them, don't be aggressive (even if they are), don't overly police their language (trust me they'll come back with the LOL U SJW), and don't resort to "YOU'RE being racist/sexist/homophobic", say "THIS specific idea/policy is racist/sexist/homophobic BECAUSE..."

the thing with my community (MENA Christians in general, not just Assyrians/Chaldeans etc) being mostly conservative in western diaspora is because of their assimilation tactics, they want to be white adjacent so they subscribe to white supremacist ideals and they want to seem xx tuff xx so they think anybody complaining about anything is being a liberal snowflake. we (assyrians) don't even have a country and are largely displaced. and ironically it's mostly thanks to western foreign policy, so what i find hilarious is this extreme nonsensical partisanship and defensiveness of politicians/political parties while they literally contribute to our genocide lol. i hear the same nonsense from them that i do from most people who are RW - hatred of people of specific ethnicities and religions, anti-blackness, xenophobia, homophobia, sexism, "lol safe spaces and trigger warnings", and "muh free speech". all that nonsense that can be easily debunked with research. Then there comes the whole "but muh work ethic" thing. Point out other countries and their policies and how they have better literacy and education rates, healthier people, lower crime rates, etc, as a result of more "left" economic policies. I could go on, but yeah.

I am not fond of the term "whitewashed." It implies to that being American is synonymous with white.

So a few weeks ago the rodeo was in town and there are always a bunch of booths set up selling junk. There's usually a giant confederate flag booth selling merch and this year it wasn't there. I guess they didn't wanna bother with losing money/the controversy this year. And I'm like heck I'm not gonna give them credit, but I think it's amazing that apparently they didn't believe it would turn a profit in a podunk pos town like this. It's awesome to know that even with all the terrible things in the world, a difference can be made. People protesting and creating a stir whether online or in person or however people choose to make their voice heard can make a difference. Because of the work of activists and the platforms that people, espesh poc, have to be heard, a man didn't put up his booth and at least for that week did not profit off of that racist af flag. Because of that work, the painfully small amount of black citizens in this town didn't have to walk past that booth. If that can happen in a small conservative town it gives me hope that the tide can turn, however frustratingly slowly that sometimes happens.

that's my cheesy moment of cheese lol.

That's been going around twitter for at least a day now and I still can't think of a single explanation as to how a company with as many resources as Dove came up with it and no one said a damn thing. I'm 99.99% sure there is not a single person darker than a glass of eggnog at Dove's advertising department.

It's like this female acceptance angle that's still focused on outer beauty. Which I get like that's what their product is lol but they just seem like extra emotionally manipulative ads
