Don’t know if it’s been mentioned here, but I love the Mark Knopfler/Emmylou Harris album, All the Roadrunning.
Ingrid Andress Follows Gabby Barrett at No. 1, Making Country History – Variety This is insane: first time that two debut female artists have ever had back-to-back number ones on the country chart. I like both songs, but the Ingrid Andress one is particularly great.
I hated "Young Once," haha. I felt like 80 percent of the song was just him repeating the title. The only thing on that album that I actually thought showed promise was the opener, "2016." Everything else just convinced me he's a mediocre songwriter who made a splash by melding modern pop and country when doing so wasn't quite as common as it is now. I was kind of appalled that he got decent write-ups by Stereogum and Pitchfork.
What I liked most about that song was the music parts after he sang the "We were young, we were young once", and it had this kind of echo-y, background guitar/banjo sound effect, which I thought was cool. But yeah it's an extremely poppy song
I'm obviously going to listen but at one point i would have been pumped to hear this news, now i'm just kinda meh
Yeah, I’m similar. Though I genuinely love the most recent song she released. I seriously thought she was my next favorite artist when I discovered The Living Room Worktapes. This rollout has been so incredibly botched, though, and it just sounds like Jay Joyce was the wrong producer for her. The acoustic EP was produced by the guys who did Golden Hour, which a much better fit with what she does well.
She's got "Come As You Are" and "The Way You Look Tonight" on the track listing. I'm assuming they're both covers and not just similarly titled songs?
"Come As You Are" at least is an original. "The Way You Look Tonight" is on a few of her setlists on Setlist.fm and is not listed as a cover, so I'd guess that's an original too. Tenille Townes Setlist at Thekla, Bristol
Haha I get it sometimes but those are two very famous songs. Either way, that video is great, I hope that song sounds like that on the record.
Right? Pick a different title! I think if she were going to throw a cover on the album though, it would probably be "Stupid Boy."
Revisiting Caroline Spence's last album - "Wait On the Wine" and "Angels or Los Angeles" are sooo good
New Lori McKenna song, "When You're My Age," with Liz Rose and Hillary Lindsey. Looks like she's got a new record coming out on July 24th called The Balladeer.
