This came along at just the right time, too. I've been on a pretty big Ryan Adams kick lately. Picked up Cold Roses on vinyl and man is that album beautiful on wax.
Really enjoying the new Caleb Caudle album Crushed Coins that came out yesterday. Only on my third listen but it is really good. Beautiful instrumentation. * Edited to add that I've also checked out the Szlachetka album Heart of My Hometown on Craig's advice, and holy shit is it incredible.
I'm looking forward to the new Kacey Musgraves album and while I really like most of her songs, sometimes she's just too "nice" or "sweet" for me. Idk. I can't explain it.
New Parker Millsap tune. I didn’t like what I read about this new album and this confirms that I may not like the album either.
I like the new Millsap record a lot. There are some classic pop influences that work surprisingly well with his voice. It definitely has more of a rock influence than his last few records, too.
Maybe I’ll like the rest better, but that song just sounds like Parker doing a Jack White impression to me.
It's easily the worst song on the record. No idea why he chose it as the lead-off single or the opening track. It almost doesn't sound like him to me.
Most of it's very early-Beatles influenced. Lots of very catchy 2-3 minute pop/rock songs. It's definitely a different direction for him, but I think it works pretty well.
That new Parker Millsap single ain't bad. It's not what I was hoping for but I'm kinda into it. Little bit bummed out that the whole album is apparently a departure from his folk/americana sound but I'm sure I'll end up liking it either way.
Understandable. The traditional throw back style is what I like most about his sound, but if someone wasn’t in to that sound I can definitely see where this wouldn’t be their thing.
It's so good. "This Town Is Killing Me", "Tacoma", and "House of Cards" for me are stand outs but there's not really a weak song on it.
New John Prine tiny desk! I’m so excited he finally has a new album coming out. John Prine: Tiny Desk Concert
It's more Folk/Americana but I think people in here would like Great North. I've been listening a bunch since I found them last week.
