Umm I’m not the best at that but to me he reminds me of William Clark Green. Spotify says Ryan Beaver as well. I came across him in the "Texas Music Now" Spotify playlist. Or you know just listen to this awesome song.
Have you (or anyone else lurking around this thread) ever seen Will Hoge live? I'm seeing him this week and I'm excited.
Yep, twice. Once in the weirdest venue I've ever seen a show at. He's the real deal, though. Great voice, great performer, good setlists. I wish I'd seen him in the early days, though. I hear he was basically a reincarnation of Springsteen back in the mid-2000s, when he was more rock/soul than country.
Yeah Will was great. Also Dan Layus was really good, his set is just him and an acoustic guitar and it was awesome. Show made me kind of sad though, there was tops 50 people there. Those 2 deserve a bigger audience.
I’ve never dove in to Chris Stapleton’s music before this week. Listening to Traveller right now. These first four songs are stellar
Finally a new album from Mary Gauthier coming Jan 26th. One of the best and most consistently overlooked songwriters out there.
John Prine has confirmed a new album early next year. His first album of original material in 13 years. Immediately my most anticipated for next year!
Man after doing my EOTY list I realized just how much my musical tastes have changed over the past year. Country/folk/singer-songwriter was my clear cut winner for the year. So just wanted to pop in and say a quick thanks to everyone who frequents this thread and recommends good stuff. Not sure if 2018 can top the year we just had but I'm looking forward to hearing about good new country artists.
A bunch of these are on my list too! Let me know what you haven’t heard and I’ll give you a few recs.
Just caught this thanks to a press release. I dig it. Bust Out Your Nudie Suit And Hear Caleb Caudle's 'Empty Arms'
