Read that this morning. Now I feel bad for saying his last record was him applying for the title of "Dean of American Sad Bastard Music."
So one of my favorite pro skaters Leo Romero has a garage-country-blues type band called Travesura and I'm digging it. also, that telecaster.
Was in City and Colour for a long time. I fucking LOVE this song. Always have. The album is pretty great.
Yeah a bunch of the attack on black guys were the backing band for city and colour. But as for Romano, loved his first four solo albums but now his style is getting a bit weird for my liking.
She's a very good songwriter, and a terrific singer. She did a duet with Alicia Keys at the Grammys that was absolutely killer. I'm excited to see her live. Really not a fan of that guy's site. He shits on pretty much anything that doesn't sound like his definition of country. Can't imagine being the kind of music listener that writes off anything that doesn't fit into an easily definable box. Speaking of Maren, she wrote this great piece about how women in country aren't given a whole lot of freedom to write or perform the music they want to write and perform. Maren Morris Is Moving Country Music Forward
Yeah, that review is "all about name dropping [Randy Travis and Garth Brooks], inessential cussing shoehorned in just to help express attitude that hopes to fill in for the lack of [criticism] to the point where [Trigger Coroneos] becomes nothing more than an uninteresting country music [reviewer] who is ... helping to push the format towards [stagnancy]."
Colter Wall's record is streaming at Noisey. Colter Wall's Timeless Storytelling Will Make You Want to Hop a Freight Train
Dave Cobb is having another fire year so far. Isbell, Stapleton, Shiflett, and Colter Wall, plus that new Zac Brown Band LP that comes out on Friday.
I hadn't checked in on this thread since middle of April, there's been a whole lot of decent stuff in the last few pages cheers everyone.
Sorry if this has already been posted but I think it's really interesting. Figured some, if not all, of you would be interested
maren morris has a few okay songs and a couple really good ones but most of her album just irritated me.
The new Matthew Ryan is really solid. He has been around forever but I never see much mention of him. Check him out if you are a fan of Springsteen, Brian Fallon, or maybe even some Ryan Adams.
He's someone I enjoy but always forget about for some reason. New record is good, though I don't like it quite as much as his last one on first listen.
Really loving the Colter Wall record. The instrumental crescendo in "Kate McCannon" is one of my favorite moments of a song this year.
Man oh man do I miss Attack in Black. Marriage is one of the first albums that comes to mind for me when I think "favourites of all-time". That album was just right time, right place, right sound. I still get immense joy from listening to it 10(!!) years later. E: I like Curve well enough, Fingertips didn't do much for me. Mostly I missed the energy.
Glad to see other people miss them too. The only good thing is that all the side projects that came out of it were great.
