I never heard of them til I went to one of their shows to see Anderson East's opening set, but now I absolutely love them. So much fun to watch on stage.
Pretty good long-form feature/interview with Angaleena Presley on the front page of PITCHFORK today of all places, a very pleasant surprise indeed: Angaleena Presley Is Nashville’s Biggest Smart-Ass | Pitchfork
I'm a fan! We've talked about this, right? I like their first record more than their second record, though.
First record is definitely more consistent. Can't wait to hear LP3. It should be coming out late summer/fall.
The second one did not have enough songs where Zach Williams just wailed on the high notes. It was therefore inferior. Guy's voice is nuts.
Also.. Zach's solo album "Story Time" is pretty amazing in its own right.. Check it out if you haven't.
Love Zach's voice, but I really hope Brian Elmquist has more tracks on the next album. "Heaven Don't Call Me Home" and "Watch Over Us" are a couple of my favorites off the last one.
Old 97's last night at The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. Hometown hero slash Neptune City native Nicole Atkins joins as the voice of God on "Good with God": EDIT: I can't figure out how to add a picture. I'm not very good at this.
Spencer Burton's new album comes out tomorrow (Friday). One of Canada's most under the radar artists. Ex Attack in Black.
Listening to Big Bad Luv now. I've heard "Old Wounds" before. He played it last time he was in Michigan. Definitely sounds better with the band.
He's had a bunch of these songs for awhile. Apparently he recorded half the record at the end of 2015.
Great review! I didn't think it was possible for this cd to exceed my expectations, but after four listens, I think it's safe to say it has done just that. Here's hoping that 2017 is the year of JM. Cheers!
Yeah I've been listening to Moreland since I got it yesterday in the mail. Definitely gonna end up as one of my favorite albums this year.
