In other news, the new Sam Outlaw record is streaming on NPR.

 

Listening to the new Cory Branan record that's out today and it's pretty good!

 

Jesus Christ I had no clue this was out.

 

It's a bit longer than it needs to be but the high points are very very high

Every song I've heard from this album has been great. One of my most anticipated for sure.

 

This was the first I had listened to, but I'm interested in it for sure!

Woof. Don't understand the random shots at "Meet Virginia," Ryan Adams, and the singer/songwriter genre in general.

 

Or not getting that "The No Hit Wonder" is delivered with a smirk.

 

Yeah, that was weird too. I haven't listened to that album/song in a long time, but I thought I recalled it being a tongue-in-cheek track.

 

The sad part about all of this is that while the review sucks, Deusner is their only remaining contributor I can think of who would even want to review a Cory Branan record.

I know we blur the line in this thread between "country" and "folk/singer-songwriter/whatever" so I'm posting this here, even though it's not really country. Anyway, has anyone listened to the new Joshua James cd "My Spirit Sister"?

 

Can definitely hear the Foo in this record. Haha

 

I have yet to listen (I'm bad at that). Just got the press release so figured I'd share. I changed up things for the site today so it's been a weird day haha.

 

I'd been curious about this one since Dave Cobb was producing.

 

I have so much catching up to do. I made my way through 3 new releases on Friday and that was it. May need to consult with you to figure out what I've missed.

 

I listened to like five or six new releases on Friday and still feel like I'm playing catch up from a few weeks ago when I was out of town for release day, haha. Best stuff I've heard in the past few weeks though isn't actually out yet: the new Stapleton and the new Sam Outlaw.

 

I suppose I should ask for Stapleton, too haha. Most of what I've listened to hasn't been country. Last country(ish) release of what I've kept track of was probs Drew Holcomb.
