Who has time to waste on stuff you know will be garbage Listen to something you might never have time for
Yeah but what's better here? Like burnt pizza is better than pizza that's been urinated on. But do you want to eat it?
I know this an extremely late pass but Chris Stapleton is the shit. Even if he didn't have that insane voice you could tell what a great writer he is just from the songs. Also the Turnpike Troubadours. Fantastic.
Yeah I like it a lot. Definitely top tier of what I've heard from him on first listen Forget FGL. Listen to some Brazilian music or Bruce bootlegs or Steely Dan. Life's too short
Got into classics by Alan Jackson and Randy Travis today. I'm officially down the country rabbit hole at this point.
I saw Hell or High Water today and apart from being a great film it's soundtrack is also excellent. Apart from the wonderful original score by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, the soundtrack also has Townes Van Zandt, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Scott H. Biram, Chris Stapleton, Waylon Jennings, Gillian Welch, and introduced me to Colter Wall, who I'd never heard before, but am really enjoying now. God, they're so bad. "Cruise" is one of my all time most hated songs, especially the remix version. Actually, I think that "This Is How We Roll" song, or whatever it's called, might be even worse. I tried. Fuck knows why, haha. Morbid curiosity maybe. I'd stay far, far away personally but at the same time, I'm always game for watching someone trash that band ha.
Snake farm, just sounds nasty I've been really wanting to see Hell or High Water so that's great news. And Colter Wall is from my small town, I had no idea he was blowing up this legitimately.
CMA nominations aren't too bad. Would be happy to see Stapleton scoop Entertainer of the Year, Lori McKenna win Song of the Year, and either Maren Morris or Eric Church get Album of the Year. Stapleton, Maren Morris, Eric Church Lead 2016 CMA Awards Nominations
There's apparently a free show with Joe Pug next Thursday in Ft Worth. I might go if I can find someone to drag along
Had a chance to hear the new albums from Amanda Shires and Shovels & Rope. Let me just say that it's going to be a good fall for country music.
Yeah it's a good one. Happy to see them mentioned. Check out their previous album me oh my, it's pretty great too.
I definitely will. I LOVE that they covered "Hallelujah" and didn't make it slow and overblown and dramatic. When I heard them doing it as a midtempo shuffle I wanted to go high five every member of that band.
also why hasn't ray stevens fucked off already and why are people still listening to this talentless hack tea party blowhard
Yo somebody should have warned me about the bluegrass "Purple Rain" cover on the new Dwight Yoakam so I wasn't trying crying at my desk after work. Jesus.
I just discovered Maren Morris by listening to a Chris Stapleton station an Apple Music. I dig her a lot. "My Church" is way catchy.
His new record is really fantastic. I'm particularly taken with "Vampires." She opened for Stapleton when he played the Opry and they did a cover of "Free Fallin'" together. Would have done ridiculous things to be in the house for that one.
