He's incredible. Album is pretty heavy in spots, especially the back to back combo of grief is only love and hang in there.
Looks like Tenille Townes parted ways with her major label. Can’t say I’m surprised, they absolutely neglected her.
The most disappointed I’ve been by someone’s career in a long time. That first EP is so fucking good, and nothing she’s done since is even close.
Agreed. I’m hoping this next chapter provides a fresh start and she makes the kind of record she’s clearly capable of
Yeah her latest album is great. "Rhinestoned" is clearly the best song on the album, so its weird how its the 9th track on the album
Her first one was just a covers album I believe so I count this as a debut. And it's so good. Rhinestoned, Everyone But You, I Don't Wanna Hear About It...some real good ones on it.
New Shovels & Rope today...haven't had a chance to listen all the way through yet but enjoyed the singles
Sharing bc I’ve been looking forward to this one since last December when they announced they were working on it, but also bc I want everybody else to love this band as much as I do.
Saw John Moreland tonight and of course he was amazing, but the opener Justin Bloss was a really nice surprise! “Talk you off the ledge, so I can push you over”
This album is basically folk perfection. Been waiting years for new original material and he didn’t disappoint.
Full hardly strictly bluegrass lineup was announced. Anyone I should prioritize seeing? Already planning on seeing Glen Hansard, Jessica Pratt, The Milk Carton Kids, Molly Tuttle, Sleater-Kinney, Haley Heynderickx, Mavis Staples, Brandy Clark, Emmylou Harris, Miko Marks, Patti smith, and the wood brothers.
I missed this one last year but if you’re looking for some good pop country (Megan Moroney-ish), I really like Avery Anna.
This one sucks a lot. One of the best persons in country music who always made sure to remind everyone that it wasn’t just about conservative politics and themes. RIP Kris.
One of my favorite videos ever — Isbell playing “The Pilgrim” with Kristofferson tearing up in the front row
Following up on this, I’ve now checked out about half of the artists I didn’t know, and I had no idea Madison Cunningham and Andrew Bird have teamed up. I know, not really country, but very cool from what I heard.
Gild the Lily is one of my favorite songs he's written. Also love the Northern MI references throughout. I grew up in Escanaba and went on many adventures on the Seney Stretch.
It was cool to hear multiple references to Traverse City (my hometown) on this album. I never saw him play when he lived here, but I did get to interview him a few years ago when he came back to town for a concert.
