My mom and I went to see him and Brett Young (she’s BY’s biggest fan I think) last week, and it’s so funny how well the corny makes him endearing live over recorded on some of the tracks. “That’s a goofy dude having fun” works live in ways that doesn’t quite land recorded.
idk where else to put this since there doesn't seem to be a loosely americana/singer-songwriter thread but this is one of the year's best riyl: wilco-core with kinda john mayer-ish vocals
I’m still getting into the genre but man, Vincent Neil Emerson, Drayton Farley, Stephen Wilson Jr and Charles Wesley Godwin all playing Stagecoach this week has me with massive FOMO. I’m already considering heading over from Oz next year for it plus to hit Fort Worth and Nashville.
Can’t speak for the others but I’ve seen VNE a handful of times now and he puts on a killer show and each time I’ve seen him he’s been better than the previous.
I just don't see any of the artists I've gotten into coming to Australia, so a US trip is gonna need to happen haha. Arlo McKinley has toured here before though, so hopefully he'll come back!
Big release day with new Charley Crockett and Lost Dog Street Band, but the debut by The Lostines is easily the one I’m most excited about.
I'm a total noob to country, was kind of against listening to it for so long, but after diving in slightly with Noah Kahan (if he can even be considered country?) and now I've been very into Chris Stapleton... Where do I go next?
I'll echo Purgatory, that was probably my biggest gateway into listening to country. I'll also say Colter might be an acquired taste if you're just dipping your toe in but he has a cool ass voice.
Colter to me is what I turn to when I’m in the mood for 100% pure grade country music; it’s as old-school country as you can get, imo
stapleton was in a bluegrass band called the steeldrivers for a while, i think he's on their first 2 records. might be worth checking out if you already like his solo stuff.
