Shooting out a recommendation for Hannah Ellis's debut album. She reminds me very much of Hero-era Maren Morris. I've been following her for awhile, but she's just released EPs and one-off singles until now. First impression is that the best songs are the ones that have been out for a few years: "Us" and "Home and a Hometown." But those two songs are so damn good that I'm not too fussed about them still being the highlights. Album is fun and has a lot of great hooks.
I enjoyed this, but it is truly uncanny how much her voice/style resembles Maren Morris. I also enjoyed the songs "Still" and "Replaceable".
This was the most I’ve ever enjoyed a Craigie album. Having TK & the Holy Know Nothings as his band really worked to his benefit and brought something fresh to his sound. With that said, if you’ve never checked out TK&THKN I highly recommend doing so. Saw them last year live and out of the 15 or so shows I saw it was probably the best.
I've been following her since 2018, so the similarity probably sounds a little less acute to my ears than to yours, but she is definitely following in Maren's footsteps.
I love Stephen Wilson Jr. He was my 2nd most listened to artist in 2023 (behind Spanish Love Songs). Year to be young 1994, American gothic, Hang in There, Grief is Only Love, Kid, Fathers Son…just some devastating tunes on that album.
HYLI Vol. LXXXX - Classic Country 101 and Power Metal 101 tried to expose my metalhead friend to some of the classics of the genre if that's something you'd be interested in
Never really checked out much of Amigo The Devil’s material, but this new album is pretty incredible. His sound is like this really interesting mix of Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and Leonard Cohen. Good stuff.
New Corb Lund album I believe came out today, El Viejo. Only had a chance to listen to a few songs so far, but they sound great and I am always a big fan of his.
I won tickets to see Dan + Shay this Friday. Not really that familiar with them, but I am excited for Hailey Whitters opening
That’ll be a really fun show; DS do a really catchy form of pop country, and can really sing. 2018 album is probably my favorite
Yeah Good Things was quite the snooze for me; seems like they focused more on ballads on that one and lost the catchiness from their previous albums, before getting it back on Bigger Houses
