I don't understand why she released that album as EPs and now as a full-length, but a pleasant surprise to have the full thing. I only had the middle third for some reason.
I had the opposite vocal thing with Thomas (he was sick) and Cole at my date. Extra fun show, though. Really liked Nate's stuff despite never hearing it before that moment.
I'm guessing she did it that way so each song would get some attention since an EP is shorter. This album is 18 tracks and 54 minutes long. If she'd just dropped a couple singles and then the album, the last 5-8 tracks probably wouldn't have gotten as much attention. It's an interesting release strategy for sure, but I think it makes sense-ish.
Oh yeah, I'm seeing Sierra Ferrell next Monday here in Oslo! Saw her last fall here too; really great time
Both Sierra Ferrell and Kelsey Waldon were fantastic last night. Sierra especially was a total pro; complete confidence on stage, adding special little flourishes to various parts of each song, whether singing harder, adding movements with her arms or legs, adding words or phrases, etc. Voice was as strong and powerful as ever, and the rest of the band were tight and on point. Great night
I’m sure everyone is already sick of the discourse around this song, but, this Oliver Anthony guy is 100% what happens when you order Tyler Childers on Wish Like do we really need another guy churning out lukewarm conservative grievance politics songs? This guy can claim he wants “unity” all day but until he vocally distances himself from the shithead alt right grifters who enthusiastically signal boosted him, I’m gonna call bullshit.
I think Fear and Friday's got awful a lot in common, they're overdone and glorified and they always leave you wantin'
Man, it's so, so good to have Turnpike back. Don't think I realized how much I missed them until I started listening to this new album.
Considering he seems to be such a big turnpike fan, it seemed an odd choice to release his album the same day as them.
It rules. Only listened once so far, but I'd say they picked up right where they left off. Title track was my favorite on the first go.
7 and 10 are the two that i'm not crazy about on first listen. Title track and Lucille are my favs of the new songs. Overall i like it alot.
I only got to listen to the first 5⅓ tracks of the new Turnpike Troubadours album on my ride home from work last night - my boss called me with some work thing partway through the title track, and I picked up the phone like a goddamn fucking idiot and ended up getting stuck on the phone but off the clock dealing with more work shit that I wasn't getting paid for and missed the rest of the album. I loved what I got to hear though. So amazing to have these guys back. First half of this album is absolutely glorious. I'm gonna finish listening today. I am very excited to check out the new Zach Bryan album too. He is another one of my favorites, but I honestly wasn't sure we'd ever get another Turnpike Troubadours album again so I had to jump right on that one.
