oh man I love him. Speaking of the two of them, here they are performing probably my favorite song of his.
I honestly do think the sheer length and weight of this thing actually obscures some pretty high highs. To my mind, if we lived in a just world where country radio wasn't a clown-show, "Oklahoma City" would've been all over it and a huge hit for him. There actually are a handful of extremely strong songs on here, and a good number of very very good ones too. I mean, aside from the absurd length of this album, he quickly released another "EP" that is as long as full albums from a lot of other artists / groups, and the funny thing is that it's actually pretty damn great.
After seeing him trending and seeing that I went to his page only to find out I had already blocked him
Damn right it is. Aldean and his wife are transphobic pieces of garbage, and Aldean actively encouraged his fans to continue attacking Maren Morris for daring to stand up against their toxic, dangerous rhetoric. And Bryan just trotted out Trump 2.0 during a concert. Even just on a musical level, these two untalented husks were always a net negative on country music as a whole, but they also presented themselves as largely innocuous dudes (well, Bryan at least; Aldean has a history of shitty behavior) and hid behind “I don’t want to get into politics” bullshit for years until they finally felt secure enough in the right-leaning mass of their audiences to show their true colors. So yeah, they can both fuck off forever. They don’t deserve their platforms and their absence from the landscape could make space in this genre for people who have empathy for other humans AND actually make decent music.
Seeing Brett Young here in Oslo next Monday night and I'm pretty excited; still crazy to think people here in the Nordics/Europe in general like country music, so I'm pretty curious as to what kind of crowd the show gets.
Just got home from Gabe Lee’s album release show and he absolutely killed it. Hope the new album makes him a more well known name .
