his dad was a painter for awhile I think, my take is the point of that line is "make something of yourself so you don't end up like me, stuck in the lower working class with no upward mobility & painting some rich dudes house" but maybe i'm wrong
yeah that makes sense. my interpretation was more that working for the rich man = having to buy more expensive pain when any paint is good which seems like good advice. it’s paint. who cares. man my brain has gone completely smooth from listening to kill em all this morning
I appreciate the spirit but there are actually a lot of differences between different kinds and brands of paint lol
Absolutely. When I put together my list for the Users Definitive Albums List thread I ended up having this as my 3rd favorite album ever. An absolute classic.
I think I totally snubbed it lol but might have had Revival on there. That does not accurately reflect my preferences tho don't know what I was doing
Revival is great also, but this one def feels like their masterpiece. I love this quote from Robert Plant. After it was released, Plant told Welch and Rawlings that Time (The Revelator) was “a masterpiece of the infinite.”
Going to all four days of this next week, pretty excited. Not everyone on here is "country" but this seemed like the most appropriate place to post Line Up - St. Louis’ Independent Music Festival
I’ve posted about Vincent Neil Emerson here before, but I got a chance to see him a few nights ago and was just so impressed, so I wanted to recommend him again. His new album has a very Townes Van Zandt feel to it. It also remind me of some of the sadder John Prine tunes like Sam Stone or Hello In There. His previous album is much more upbeat/honky tonk. Both albums are great, but I tend to lean toward the sad bastard songs. I feel like he has potential to blow up, but I’ve found that I have no clue what is going to become popular in this genre anymore lol.
Yeah I'll need to spend some time with it. I liked it but yeah probably not as much as some of his other stuff
seeing son volt tonight and wilco on friday...probably the closest I'm ever gonna get to seeing uncle tupelo haha
