Never cared much for anything Lukas Nelson has done, but I have actually been really enjoying this new one.
I liked bits of the first Promise of the Real album a lot, but was lukewarm on the last one. Really enjoyed my first listen of the new album, though.
New Vincent Neil Emerson out today. Pretty immediately my favorite country release this year. If your a fan of guys like Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, John Prine then my guess is you would enjoy this album.
Stumbled upon this completely random album on Bandcamp, that features mainly the kind of music you'd hear in old western films, with slow and plodding beats/guitar strums, that classic western whistling, background female vocals in places, etc. If you listen I think you'll get what I mean, haha. Album cover seems completely unrelated too, haha
Great artist, and the album sounded top notch on first listen. Hope this album gets him the recognition he deserves.
I don't have much familiarity with his past work, but I heard some of the singles from this one and was really impressed. Liking the record a lot.
He's not someone I was familiar with before the rec, but I sampled a few of the songs just now this morning and it sounds amazing. I can't wait to give it a full listen later today. Thanks for sharing.
We went up to OKC to do some furniture shopping and I saw that Eli Young Band were playing at the local amusement park Six Flags affiliated park so we got in for free with our SF season passes... we know about 6 of his songs, and it was... really flat as far as the audience and his show goes. He even commented on how quiet the crowd was a number of times. Was still nice seeing a show for the first time in well over a year.
Man. I feel like "don't play a free show at a Six Flags" should be country music advice to live by right up there with "don't call what you're wearing an outfit" or "don't let them take you to the man downtown" or something something mamas and cowboys
Russell Dickerson is there in two weeks, but we snagged some free tickets to Brad Paisley in Dallas at the XX Amphitheater that day so we'll be going there (and the Arlington Six Flags) instead.
