Did like 20 years in the Allman Brothers. Then having him and Derek Trucks at the same time should have been subject to antitrust laws
Not typically a big fan of cover albums, but the new American Aquarium album is perfect. Such a fun listen. It’s like every song I remember my parents listening to constantly on country radio growing up.
It's Marfa Tapes by a mile for me but I don't consider myself super aware of the genre. I felt that the single "Wilder Days" outshone the rest of Morgan Wade's album by a fair bit.
I think you’ve heard most of my favs. Morgan Wade - Reckless Jack Ingram, Jon Randall, and Miranda Lambert - The Marfa Tapes Carly Pearce - 29 Lainey Wilson - Saying What I’m Thinking Eric Church - Heart Not sure if these count: Parker Millsap - Be Here Instead Ashley Monroe - Rosegold
She’s had a very slow burn career, but is finally getting some mainstream success as we speak. Reminds me a bit of Miranda in how she splits the difference between extremely fun country frivolity and all those gorgeous, emotional ballads.
Got ya. These would be my "B" tier but my other candidates for best country of 2021 so far would be Olivia Ellen Lloyd and Charlie Marie
My favorite so far is the American Aquarium album probably. Hasn’t been a great year so far for country music .
Stumbled upon this album today, think some folks in this thread would dig it. Kind of Americana meets '80s pop-rock, a la Butch Walker's Stay Gold. Pretty immediately shooting up my list of favorite 2021 albums.
