The Official 90th Academy Awards Chorus.FM Oscar Pool

Rules are brief!
- This is a preferential ballot. That means you rank your picks, from what you think is most likely to win (this would be ranked #1) to what you think is least likely to win (mostly #5, in one category #9 and in one category #3).
- At the end of the ballot is a tiebreaker question. Make sure you answer this question. If there is a tie, and one of the people hasn't answered the tiebreaker question, I will automatically award the prize to the person that did.
- There is a $5 buy-in. I will be posting in this initial post who has submitted the buy-in. Until you submit this, you will not be officially part of the pool.

Is it just one winner takes the entire pot?

 

I’m going to determine that based on how many entries we get. If the pot is over like 50 or 60, it might make sense to do a first and second place.

 

Since most people will probably not submit their ballots til much closer to the show, I’m gonna say once you’ve sent in your money, I’ll include your name in the main post.

Yeah, so many of the people I want to win are going to come just short that I think I'm not gonna participate in the pool, just run it.

Also, updated the main post.

 

Mine is in as well. Some of these categories are pretty easy (i.e. all of the acting awards), but I'm still waffling about Best Picture and a few of the other majors, to say nothing of the usual toss-up that is the short film categories.

 

original screenplay was the hardest for me, adapted will almost certainly going to Call Me By Your Name, an 89 year old legend who somehow doesn't have an award yet gotta be

 

Yeah I mean James Ivory has it all locked up, it's a career award but also very obviously the best of those five screenplays. I've seen some outlets out there predicting Mudbound but, like, I don't know what those people are thinking.

Ivory will also beat Ennio Morricone to become the oldest Oscar winner ever.

 

If Faces Places wins, he actually won't.

submitted and paid! i was planning on watching more of the nominees, but i'm too swamped with classes right now. it's also really hard to separate who i want to win with who i think will actually win.

Updated, also, fuck it, I'm participating. The Oscars don't mean shit, if Get Out doesn't win it's still the most important film of 2017.
