i'm nearing the end of s8 where andy just got fired. really dislike nelly and kinda am just waiting for the series finale at this point. it really took a dive imo.

 

Season 8 Nelly is the worst character in the series without question.

Season 9 Nelly is better but just okay. The last 3-4 episodes make up for how bad season 8 was.

 

is s9 worse than s8? cuz my binge rate has slowed almost to a halt since s8 started

 

Season 9 is much better than season 8. It doesn't touch the earlier seasons, but it's enjoyable for the most part.

 

I'm maybe a third of the way through season eight and the drop-off has been pretty minor tbh.

 

I didn't think 8 and 9 were as bad as people made it out to be.

 

They're bad when you're watching week to week for the first time.

 

I can see that. But I'm binging and the flaws with 8 are the same flaws that have always been there

 

I've always thought S9 was worse than S8. It starts ok from memory - good first episode - but there's a point where it becomes genuinely bad television. Caricture, almost cartoonish humour at times, poorly executed through-lines, garbage attempts at reintroducing some pathos. I've never watched it again but there was an absolute nothing episode with a paper airplane competition. Fuck, it was dire at that stage.

I like the finale and I like Clark Duke. There's some other decent stuff in there but broadly speaking, I wish S9 could be wiped out of The Office history. S8 was never as bad as S9 was at its worst.

 

Clark Duke was a great addition. He almost always cracked me up that season.

 

So, like every other season? Haha

Season 9 was easily worse than 8 for me. Everything about most of the storylines the first half of season 9 was just depressing to me. I think like after episode 13 or so it started to get better and the finale was great though.

 

I think 9 is stronger than 8 in general but 9 has probably my least favorite episode in the series (Lice)

 

i think Nellie works really well with Dwight. some of her best / legit funny moments come between the two of them. when she's trying to teach him how to interact with a woman in a position of power (season 9) she has some fantastic lines.

 

it's still weird that Jake Lacy went from Plop to being in Obvious Child and Carol

 

9 has The Farm and no RC, so it’s worse than 8. But I actually really love 8.

 

That's the one where she's trying to get him to cut her arm off right? Lmao

 

I think the finale is one of the worst things about s9 tbh. I know they wanted to end things on a happy note but it felt forced and made characters act in ways that was very out of character for them. All of a sudden, Dwight is a nice guy and everyone is super happy for him to be their boss, despite there being plenty of evidence they would hate him as that, like Stanley saying he would quit his job if Dwight took over. And Michael's cameo was just disappointing

All this talk about bad characters and no one has mentioned Brian the cameraman?

 

Brian was terrible

 

I really like season 9 but agknowledging the camera crew/documentary was a bad choice I think. Although it did make a for one of the most perfect finales in sitcom history.
