Parks and rec is awful in season 1 because it tries so hard to be the office/an amy poheler stand up routine. One it finds its groove mid season 2 that show never went down for me, loved it until the last episode.
push through, once they establish the characters and the pit and are able to get going, this is one of my favorite shows of all time.
Early Parks suffered from lame Mark Brendsandwich... once Rob Lowe and Adam Scott come aboard is when the series found its footing.
I loved Mark until they literally ran out of story for him. Besides Ron he was the only level headed person for leslie to interact with. Its really interesting to read his accounts of why he left the show. Hes very candid in interviews about his departure.
I literally forgot that Mark existed, oh yeah right he dated Ann Perkins, Ann Perkins was also dating Andy Dwyer in the beginning and he was a total douche
Yeah I loved Mark. He was very grounded and I thought he was pretty funny. Never quite understood why people disliked him so much.
Like i said, Mark was great until it became very evident that the writers ran out of ideas for him (which was very quick) it felt like him dating ann was just a “oh this is what we can have him do” sort of thing
Season 1 is very underrated. Of course it’s not the strongest material, but those first few episodes drew me in right away and I still find them very enjoyable Edit: just realized this was the Office thread, but I was referring to Parks
Mark would have worked but the story just evolved without him it seemed. Never understood the hate, but Adam Scott and Rob Lowe truly made the show more enjoyable
Even without Ben and Chris, the show was dramatically funnier with the opening of S2 with the "penguin gay marriage" episode
I thought Mark was a decent character, but it also made sense for him to be done after S2, there was nowhere for him to go
Dang, people were right, S6 is kind of a dud. Some funny moments, but I find myself drifting to my phone. I was expecting Pam and Jim's wedding to be pretty good, but honestly it was a pretty boring 2 parter. Phyllis's wedding was a funnier episode imo
Alright, Scott's Tots finally came on. I don't think it was anywhere near as uncomfortable as some of you made it out to be, the dinner party was way more awkward for me anyway. It was just a "meh" episode. Also, just watched the episode where Pam and Jim had their baby and holy shit Dwight destroying their kitchen gave me anxiety lol. Thats one of those plot points I'd like to see mentioned again but I feel like it was just throwaway. That's one of the things that bothers me about this show, there are so many things that come up in an episode and then never mentioned again
I blame a lot of that on losing Greg Daniels and Michael Shur. It felt like once they left and Paul Lieberstein became showrunner, all continuity went out the window in favor of gags. And Dwight turned into a full blown cartoon.
I can't think of specific examples, but I feel like the first few seasons were also guilty of ignoring continuity at parts, but yeah it definitely got worse. I had no idea that Michael Schur left the show at any point. That's a major bummer.
I mean, Kevin made that "PB and J" joke about wanting the two of them to get together, so he and others have said their names in that order on the show itself lol
