"oompa-loompa doompledie-dawsom, Dwight is now gone which is totally awesome. why is he gone, he was such a nice guy. no he is not, he was a total douche. doompledie-do."
Early Andy was douchy but still tolerable. It wasn't until he punched a hole in the wall that it seemed to take it out of character.
i've said it before, but they really started to make him too stupid for his own good at times. hell, in the cold open to "Stress Relief" after Dwight drops the sparklers/fireworks Andy yells, "the fire is shooting at us!". i could understand Kevin or maybe even Creed yelling that, but not Andy. then again that's a big 'ol nitpick and if i kind of feel bad for Helms because it seems like Andy was the one character the writers were never really able to grasp completely and understand what they wanted to do with it.
whoa. now that i think about it, Dwight sums up Andy perfectly in "The Duel". "You just dress fancy and sing. what is that?" and really, that's the only consistent thing about Andy most of the series haha
Andy was always better when he was coming out with 'Andyisms' ("Dwight may have won the battle but I will win... the next battle"). He was a douche early on but that's when he was at his funniest and he was a great character back then. Over time they made him more likeable but less funny, which I think is why Greg Daniels decided to go back to douchey Andy in the final season. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to realise that the reason he was funny early on was not because he was dick but because he had loads of good lines. You monster.
I love this show and I've the whole series multiple times. My girlfriend is watching it for the first time and I watch episodes with her sometimes and I find myself laughing at it more than she does even though I've already seen all the episodes and I know all the jokes.
for some of the jokes that sometimes makes it even better, because you know how great it's going to be.
Yeah, I know I know. I just find her annoying. And her handful of funny parts don't outweigh her awfulness for me.
Watching "Cocktails" and one of my favorite visual gags is with Michael and Jan arguing on the ride home from David Wallace's house party and Dwight just pops up from the back seat and tells them not to break up
I don't like Erin either. I used to, but it started to really grate on me how annoyingly clueless she always is.
Pam: "it's my mural. Someone painted all over it." Erin: "I thought that's what you were doing." Pam: "yeah, but not like that." Erin: "oh...they used worse paint..."
i'm still not sure how i feel about Erin throwing away disposable cameras after using up all the pictures. like, is it too stupid for her to be doing, or is it a genius joke because of the name of the product?
For sure. I liked the ending they gave him. Just not how they wrote the character in the majority of the season.
