FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

I thought the show ended pretty well but if I remember correctly like the first twelve episodes of season 9, there were just so many moments that just depressed the crap out of me. But I loved the whole show. The whole thing will definitely be at least an annual rewatch for me haha.

one of the advantages P&R had over The Office for me was the entirety of the characters. The Office has great ones of course, but all of P&R's were great. like, i'd rather watch Donna centric episode than a Phyllis centric episode. and the animal control guys compared to like, Tod Packer or the IT guy.

love both shows, but P&R was special in so many small ways that so many shows miss out on.

good gravy, i forgot how good this show still is in season 4. not as many outright memorable moments as in 2 or 3, but so many good/great small, quick moments.

    Night Out:

    "what do you do?"
    "I am a bank teller"
*to the camera without girl around* "Ryan told me to always tell girls i work in finance"

so he picks bank teller :crylaugh:

Pam hitting Meredith in the side of the face, from a foot a way, with a football after saying she knows how to throw one

Michael: "i'm going to get laid"
    Dwight: "with sex!"

the Dunder Mifflin website being taken over by sexual predators

Parks is my all time favorite show but this show is definitely up there. Probably number 4 for me behind Parks, Always Sunny and Community

    finished up season 4 tonight.

i just about died laughing at the abrupt and sheer idiotic, unreasonable way that the Scranton branch finds out that Ryan has been arrested / fired. a video on youtube? and the name of the video doesn't even say anything about Dunder Mifflin or Ryan, just says something like, "whoa! check this out!". granted, someone probably emailed Jim the video link, but still it just seems like the oddest way to find out a major executive of a company has been arrested haha.

also, towards the end of the season Andy is ridiculously stupid. he's taken to later season Kevin levels of mentally challenged. he was always kind of a doofus, but there are a few moments where it stands out like, "holy shit. we're supposed to believe this guy graduated from Cornell?" (not to mention his later rise to manager).

all in all, season 4 is really enjoyable. a few main storyline dud episodes, but even those have handfuls of terrific / classic moments that most other shows can't match.

is your listing of literally all the shows you've seen or just comedy-based shows? i find it so challenging to try and rank comedy shows with dramas / other works because they're so different that i can't really hold them / rank them against each other (same with films).

Those are my top four shows in general

I like comedy considerably more than drama

Kelly: "so you're in the tub with everything?"
Jan: "oh yeah, the afterbirth floats"
Creed: "must be like the tide at Omaha beach"

dead every time i hear this. and then the face he makes a second later.

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

The may be my favorite exchange throughout the show:

    Dwight: Where are we going?
    Jim: Get inside.
    Dwight: Where are we going?
Jim: We're going to Chuck E. Cheese.
Michael: Chuck E. Cheese? Oh god, I'm so sick of Chuck E. Cheese.
Jim: We're going to the hospital, Michael.
    Michael: I know, just saying.

Also, when the guy in the wheelchair refers to Dwight as the "guy with the moon face".

I think The Office is funnier but Parks and Rec had more of a plot.

I also cannot watch Scott's Tots. I watched it once and that is all I can muster.

i was never a big fan of Andy on my first (dozen) watches of the series, but he never really bothered me until the last season or two, but watching the series again now, the first time in about two years, i almost cannot stand him and i really dislike how they made him one of the "main 4" of the show.

also, a major error season 4 made was putting him and Angela together and then having them be engaged. that could have been seen as a "jump the shark" moment in a lot of ways but because they spent so little time on the story it didn't (instead focusing much more on Dwight's reaction to their relationship).

Andy was supposed to be obnoxious, we all know the kind of person who would give someone a stupid nickname based on a sandwich they bring to lunch one day

there is a lot of reality in Andy (then again i find lots of realism in all the characters, one of the reasons the show is as great as it is) but he comes off as more cartoonish than Dwight most of the time. i'm currently on "Job Transfer" in season 5 and Dwight's dressing up in Cornell gear which is driving Andy nuts. by itself, this wouldn't be an issue, or annoying, but this is second main storyline of the episode and it's beating a dead horse.

finding a lot of what Andy does or says to make me roll my eyes or just shrug and say, "who the fuck cares?" as they extend sooooo much of what he does.

Cooter... that's not my name! My name is James Reilly. Cooter Burger? What do you think I am, a cartoon dog? The president named me that.
    He gave you two nicknames?
"Cooter" because I look like a turtle and "Burger" because he saw me eating a hamburger one time.

I could be wrong but I think if you look close enough at the caption of the youtube video it says something about "dunder mifflin executive arrested". could be making that up but i seem to remember.

wow. never realized before how snaky/shitty Michael is in "The Duel" in season 5.

he's about to leave for a meeting at corporate so he decides now is the time to tell Andy that Dwight and Angela are sleeping together, leaving Jim to handle the reactions and pick of the pieces. it's written / handled in a typical "oh Michael, shucks" shake your head and laugh kind of way, but seriously, what a dick move by Michael haha.

also, going back to the show's breaking of the fourth wall / breaking their universe with having actual celebs on the show for a minute - i'll have to pay attention when Robert Lipton (The Senator) comes to the show. he played Claire's dad in Heroes, and Dwight specifically mentions the show in season 2 (or maybe 3) so i wonder if there are any slight jokes made about the Senator resembling that character.

One of my favorite jokes popped into my head this morning. It's the episode with Michael's birthday and they're at the ice skating rink and they give Michael his present, a cheap, awful cologne from Walgreen's or something called Night Swept, and he's like, "Night Swept?! Wow, too much guys," or whatever he says.

His genuine excitement and surprise at such a cruddy gift and just the name Night Swept is so clever.
