Is this your first time going through the series? If it is, let us know if you notice a considerable change.
Nothing on TV, comedy wise, has ever topped the first 5 seasons of The Office. Parks and Rec came close, but I miss these types of shows. I've never watched 30 Rock, so I might try that.
Anyways, shifting from all the negative talk... Watched The Convention (and others) last night...It may contain my favorite Michael quote--"Jim and I have different definitions of friendship. I think it's talking and being friends, and Jim thinks it's moving to Connecticut and being best friends with Josh." So good...The scenes immediately before and after it, paired with Steve's excellent delivery is just perfect.
This was my favorite comedy on TV, besides the sitcoms of the 90's (Married with Children, Home Improvement and Roseanne), but there are some aspects that I didn't like.
Seinfeld is the funniest show ever, imo. But The Office is my favorite sitcom ever because it has comedy and emotions. Parks and Recreation and Arrested Development would be next. Nathan for You and Silicon Valley after that.
"I love inside jokes. I'd love to be a part of one some day..." is simultaneously my favorite Office quote/the funniest thing and the saddest thing I've ever heard.
"we won't let you down" "you can't because i don't care" probably one of my favorites that gets overlooked, but then again so many do.
Parks was the more consistent show, but the Office at its peak is one of the all-time great comedies.
Tbh, I've only gone through Parks once and I didn't think it was super consistent. Seasons 3 and 4 are excellent and 7 is great as well, but parts of 5 and 6 definitely dragged imo.
I still maintain that S8 isn't that bad. A step down, yes, but there are still a lot of enjoyable moments.
I just have one binge watch under my belt but I still enjoyed a lot of season 8. The first half of season 9 I found it hard to keep watching sometimes.
I've found that S9 grew on me after being my least favorite by far for a while. It's still probably my second least favorite though, behind S8, but I love all of them.
