The “ninth” season was not THAT bad and would have been better if they had been allowed to make it its own show as was originally planned.
They’re definitely going to have a remote worker who never goes on zoom and it’s gonna be some mystery stupid joke for years
I personally hated it. I think if you enjoy broad slapstick goofy comedy, you’ll find something to enjoy in it. Sometimes that works for me, but it’s a massive departure from how the show started and I was severely not on board with that shift.
It must be because I didn't watch this until the whole thing was over and I could binge it, but there wasn't much in the first 7 seasons I found to complain about. Seasons 8 and 9 definitely took a while for me to get through, first half of season 8 I had to force myself to continue I totally get that flaws would stick out more as it was airing weekly though. I flew through the first 7 seasons, that's all. The stuff everyone says makes sense but it was a show I just never put that much thought into
I’m glad the people who didn’t watch the show for years on air and watched the DVD’s constantly didn’t notice the drastic shift in style of humor. I guess? It does get worse after Steve leaves,
I mean, like I said earlier, there are things to enjoy about the shift they took. I just prefer the smarter humor in the early seasons. And we all see to agree it nosedived after Michael left. So, whatever.
Would be willing to bet Rainn Wilson was at least one of them. He’s talked pretty openly about how unhappy he was at the time because he felt like he should be doing bigger things, a feeling he now regrets. He had also just filmed the backdoor pilot to the Dwight show that NBC had passed on so that probably stung a little as well.
I think there’s rumors that John Krasinski is known to be pretty tough to deal with. That could be it too.
When you have such a large ensemble cast, a lot of them slightly older actors who have been in bit parts their whole life, there is probably a lot of competition for screen time and jokes. When Creed and Darryl get bigger and bigger roles that necessarily means that someone else gets less than they could have.
sucks that ed helms’ celebrity was growing so much around the later seasons because it was often insufferable spending so much time on his plot lines
