Haven’t seen it in imax but I just know the scene of the ship breaking in two feels like actually drowning.
this scene in the dolby theater was the loudest part of the movie. it was fucking insane lol borderline unbearably loud.
Saw it again last night. Loved it even more. Been listening to the OST at work. I know James Blake had the credits song but his vocals are on quite a few of the OST tracks as well. The Laestrygonians theme is beautiful
I’m a little bit of a Nolan hater, find a lot of his movies cold and emotionless. So I went into this kind of expecting to be technically impressed but not much more. Really enjoyed almost everything about it. Idk why this one hit for me, just found it dazzling and emotional and paid off its 3 hour runtime nicely.
It's funny you bring this up. I've mentioned before that my co-worker thinks Nolan is, in his words, a hack, and I questioned him on it just yesterday and part of his explanation was that he feels his films are sterile, which lines up with your "cold and emotionless" take. He does intend to see this movie though, although it's unclear if he'll do it in a theater. Interested to hear if he ends up liking it as you did.
