I feel like that’s the sequence that threw most people off who don’t like it. That’s an interesting belly button.
I've been cooler than most on Interstellar since opening night. It's kinda surprised me (especially in the last few years) I've heard people name drop that as one of their all time favorite movies. Oppenheimer and Dunkirk are my favorites. Guess I like his historical movies more??
I think it's a pretty soppy film so I can why some people bounce off it hard while others can really fall in love with it depending on how well you can connect with the sentiment. I'm a big fan personally.
I honestly don’t remember what it was that annoyed me about Interstellar in the theater. I’m hazy on a lot of the specifics about the movie, and when I think back, it sounds like something that’d now be extremely my shit. Especially since Inception is my current second favorite of his (after Oppenheimer), and I’m also one of this site’s only Tenet fans. My tastes in 2014 must’ve just been dumber than I remember them being, lol.
I like Interstellar. I just don't LOVE it. It's well made and that should have been McConaughey's Oscar performance. I think it just loses it me in the third act.
The speech at the end of the movie is some of the worst writing in Nolan’s filmography, everything with timmee and the family back on earth kinda sucks, and as much as was made out of it at the time the Damon cameo is kind of dumb and ineffective so much sci fi since has been bad bad though so I think I’ll like it more whenever I rewatch
What recent sci fi has been bad bad? The Martian, Dune, The Expanse, Ad Astra have all come after Interstellar. The rest of your criticism I agree with however.
I just finished reading The Odyssey. Had no idea this was coming out. Seems like I should go watch it.
