After some research, I learned that for true historical accuracy, actors would need to speak Mycenaean Greek. That would rob us from Nolan's vision of Odysseus screaming LETS GOOO as he heads into battle though.
Any popular filmmaker with a distinct style and passionate fans is gonna have people who don’t mesh with that style. Calling him a hack is an overstatement imo (from a person I don’t know who isn’t here, so splitting hairs over the exact take is probably pointless). But, I get people having a range of reactions to his work.
He isn't as good as the fanatics make him out to be, but he has made some impressive movies. Very similar to Villeneuve.
