I think Willem Dafoe as a court jester who wears a gimp mask and makes people how like dogs was too much of a tease to put in only the first 5 minutes of this , my stomach can handle like one or two decapitations and bloody bodies maybe but there were a few too many for me haha I would have perished before I turned 12 in viking times
yeah needed way more Dafoe. this was still good though, the first half especially was killer. second half lost me a little bit until the final fight. Bjork scene is etched onto my brain forever now
This film inspired me to go back to the gym. When everything closed the first time due to Covid I lost all motivation and a lot of progress I had made. I had forgotten just how beneficial rigorous exercise was for my mental health. Not exactly trying to look like a Viking king but I’ll take it.
Huge fumble to have Skarsgaard cut off the long hair 2 scenes into having it and stick with his goofy borderline bowl cut the rest of the time
Finally saw this. A little underwhelmed by the story. It's basically just The Lion King /j This went so hard. I didn't feel its length at all. Visually stunning, even the dream sequences were well done
had a horrible experience at the theater. absolutely fucking awful. all nighttime scenes were medium grey at best, and the fucking movie was stretched 20% to fill the screen. I just watched the trailer to make sure I'm not crazy and/or it wasn't a stylistic choice. movie was great obvs
Finally seeing this and I’m stoned with an entire theater to myself, couldn’t have asked for a more ideal situation.
I mostly liked this. I think it was a little too cliched for me. Felt like a story that's been told a million times. Looked gorgeous and was well acted. You just knew everything that would happen from the jump. The Anakin/obi fight didn't look great either.
Kinda my thoughts as well; visually it was amazing. Story was just so so. The Witch is still top Eggers for me
Took my dad to see this and though he is not really one to care about or know directors but enjoyed this film. I want to show him another sometime soon but can't decide if it should be the Witch or Lighthouse. Thoughts?
Did Eggers put himself in this btw? I thought I saw him leaning against the mast in the first shot on the first slave ship after Ahmlet gets up onboard.
