Just left the theater. There are so many scenes that will be etched in my brain. I did not see the twist with the mom coming.
Absolutely incredible film. I had been impatiently waiting for this one for years, and yet it somehow exceeded my expectations. I have heard that Eggers didn’t quite have the complete control he wanted, so I’m really hoping we get a directors cut. Probably going to see this again while it’s still in theaters. Robert Eggers has such a unique vision in everything he does, he’s easily one of my favorite directors working. The score was fantastic, the cinematography was amazing, still thinking about several shots. Everyone brought a great performance but I was really impressed with the child Amleth. Thinking I’ll do a more in-depth write up after I see it again.
Solid, wish I had subtitles. Seeing it in Dolby ruled, absolutely oppressive sound at some points. My eyes lit up when I heard Ralph Ineson’s voice.
I think in the end I’m going to end up loving this for what it is and not what I thought it might be. I’ve definitely been thinking about it a lot since I saw it yesterday, especially Skarsgard’s performance.
I think she’d prefer to not see intestines lol. Me on the other hand, I’m sayin show me those insides baby!
My only complaint was I wanted the other son to die a more agonizing fashion. Dude was a tool and he got off easy
Kinda wild how many folks couldn’t hear Amleth said every 5 to 10 minutes. Also the plot is like 75% Hamlet, so it felt a little on the nose name-wise. Iceland remains undefeated. Intense film. Skarsgard’s physicality was wild.
