Exactly this. Ever After and Masterpiece Theatre are the two essential albums from them. Just ridiculously good modern pop rock jams with lots of 80s inspiration sprinkled in.
Ha! Thankfully this isn’t a cover of that bad song. As much as I love ATL, IFLD definitely is one of their worst songs.
Man, this must have been one heck of a song to sit and put together; so many different sounds and effects
Apple Music treated me to all 3 new songs in succession this morning and let's just say I'm having a way better day than usual! haha
I mean their last few albums haven’t been their strongest but I think Masterpiece Theatre and Ever After are still perfect records. Hope they come out swinging on the next one.
Astoria still has some incredible bangers. Phantoms was their first true misstep, but even that was very good.
New song is fun but it doesn't have the momentum of their best stuff. Feels like a production exercise more than a jam. I am very much not a fan of this one-song-at-a-time release strategy. Can't see this helping them reach new audiences as they do not seem to be getting pushed into streaming playlists.
Yeah I do agree none of these three songs take off quite like the biggest singles from the first album; hopefully the next one we get does
