Doesn't really grab me as much as the singles from the first record did, but its good. As usual with his work I will wait to see the entire cohesive album before making judgements.
He’s very good at creating an aesthetic for each release. I don’t know if it’s me just being in my 30s now, but the past few years i’ve randomly started getting this feeling of being nostalgic for things i’ve never experienced. I couldn’t place the feeling and I remember when his first album came out I was googling trying to find if there was a word that encapsulated that feeling. Closest I could find was wistful. A lot of The Midnight’s music gives me the same feeling. Idk if i’m the only one who feels this or knows what i’m talking about haha
omfg that verse is so fucking smooth and intricate than most on the first album chorus is very good. very The Band Camino
Hahah, I have the exact same feelings when listening to the night game and the midnight! Thanks for putting it into words for me.
Still absolutely baffled as to why The Night Game aren't bigger than they are. All of Martin's BLG fans should dig the music and I would think it also appeals to a mainstream audience. Maybe there's just not enough promo and I know he didn't do much touring for the last album. New song is pretty much everything I hoped it would be. Classic nostalgia / Summer vibes
Song rules! Whilst not as immediate as his debut's singles, it's still solid and it gets me stoked for LP2.
I've felt this since I was a young teenager. It's not even just music that'll do it - it could be something like looking at an old website from the 90's.. or old videos and images. The Midnight definitely does that for me too. I used to search for a term as well haha. I found this: anemoia - n. nostalgia for a time you've never known. Imagine stepping through the frame into a sepia-tinted haze, where you could sit on the side of the road and watch the locals passing by
when Kirin throws the guitar and catches it in time with the crash hit at the end of Bad Girls *chef's kiss*
Oh wow, every single song he puts out hits me straight away. This could be the best one yet. The 80s vibes are just unreal
Song rules as expected and I prefer this to Magic Trick. That bridge really reminds me of Marianas Trench.
