There are 30 Rolling Stones albums and less than 10 of them are "bad" so not sure how this could be true about any list of their albums but ok
In their (definitively superior) American discography, I've heard 14 Stones studio albums, and I think all of them are good. I imagine I'll feel similarly about the other 12.
some girls, black and blue and tattoo you in the top 10, let alone their placements, is some real wild shit
I would expect Some Girls and Tattoo You to be in more peoples’ top 10s than not. Pretty uniform faves Black And Blue is a choice. Hand Of Fate is great tho, whatev
What the hell does my guy Gordon Lightfoot need to do to get on one of these lists eventually? Get awesome needle drops in Knives Out and The Half of It? Oh wait HE ALREADY DID THAT.
1. Let it Bleed 2. Sticky Fingers 3. Exile on Main Street 4. Beggars Banquet 5. Their Satanic Majesties Request 6. Between the Buttons 7. It’s Only Rock and Roll 8. Aftermath 9. Goats Head Soup 10. Out of Our Heads
The more I think about it the more bummed I am that: Siamese Dream isn't higher up Mellon Collie isn't on there at all
Smashing Pumpkins is a major major major fave of mine but, in the spirit of Stephen Thomas Erlewine’s thinking, I dont think that stuff really needs boosting. i love BC’s music so much and I think he’s admirably honest and bare, but the rock messiah trope’s gotta go EDIT: that said, if there’s an SP on there it should be Mellon Collie. The gift that keeps on giving
But the key with STE is he wasn't boosting stuff he already knew would be on the list. Mellon Collie missed.
2/5 of your list isn’t on mine and the order is completely different. some girls absolutely isn’t universally liked if you look at the reviews from the time. also, i like the album lol. it just isn’t a top ten album from one of the best bands ever why are you so mad about this lol
i do think there’s an argument for probably assuming something would be a shoe in and finding out after you’re wrong. release the ballots!
Mellon Collie not being on here is definitely wild, but I also forgot how low it was on the original list.
Yeah I do wonder if some of the ones I love that fell off were the victim of advocacy voting. People consider them top 50 albums, but assumed everyone else would vote for them.
Leaving things off because you assume someone else will put it on there is silly. And with a list like this, so is the one album per artist thing. I respect raising up artists who are unfairly looked over though
