I keep going back to that Arima Ederra record. I feel like it is so second half heavy that you might be inclined to turn it off, but it really turns into something special around the song Second Time. None of it is bad, but I think the first couple tracks are a bit snoozy/derivative.
@OhTheWater Where do you generally find info about new releases? Just curious. I’m checking here, bandcamp, the quietus, boomkat, and a few other places
All of the above, plus following a few critics (Joshua Minsoo Kim, @funkentechno) on twitter who hype new stuff. From there, just following the artists on social media to see what other stuff they promote. Nick Zanca (Mister Lies/Quiet Friend) is an excellent follow for recs. Believe he put me on to the crew I just posted. If I’m feeling particularly adventurous, I’ll search a niche artist’s name on Twitter and follow the people talking about them to get more recs. Also looking at RateYourMusic lists for artists and seeing what else is on those lists.
seconded rate your music. it's the only place i personally source new tunes from at this point. it's so infinitely customizable that you don't really need anything else if you're in the habit of playing around in it
Lol I also consistently follow those people too. Great stuff. I’ve also been just experimenting through various artists attached to labels I enjoy. Did you like the Nick Zanca album from 2024? That one went under the radar a bit.
the lead single from it was a bit too cloying for me so I put off listening to it. I feel like I enjoyed the majority, but I haven’t returned to it since.
