Where are my enthusiasts for nature documentary series and films? What are your favorites and what are you currently watching?

My favorites are pretty much anything narrated by David Attenborough (Planet Earth II and Our Planet II are top tier). I loved Queens recently. Angela Bassett did a fantastic job with the narration.

I’m currently watching The Americas. The footage has been absolutely fantastic, but Tom Hanks has been a disappointing narrator. Plus it is only giving surface level commentary on climate change, which feels like such a cop out at this day and age.

Another great David Attenborough doc. It goes into horrifying detail of some aspects of industrialized fishing (though I wish it would go a step further and name names). Of course there’s some hope sprinkled in at the end too. The footage is absolutely stunning.

Nature doc + a competition reality show. Weird combo

Basically they got a bunch experts to do a real life Pokemon Snap-off with Sharks

An unexpected concept for a reality show, but I’m kind of into it. Horrible title though.

I know they're flawed as far as having a finger on the scale of them being "non-fiction," but I have an enormous soft spot for Disney's True-Live Adventures series from the '50s. White Wilderness, The Vanishing Prairie, The African Lion, etc. Something about the Technicolor and knowing you're seeing nature that no longer exists that same way really grabs me.

I’ve been watching Dynasties. The first episode with the chimps was insane. It was like a real life version of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Been watching Mammals (2024) on HBO. The second episode “The New Wild” is fantastic. A very interesting look at how animals have adapted to our built environments.
