The drums on 'The Day I Die' sound so good

Lil snippet of 'Sometimes I Don't Think'. Sounds great, kind of reminds me of Mistaken for Strangers. Matt's a little shout-ier, hopefully that is on the record.

So are we thinking we're going to get a new album this year?

 

late Q1 early Q2 next year is my guess

 

I recall them saying definitely no album this year but they would start playing new songs through the year. That was months ago though, so maybe they're further ahead on a new album.

 

yeah didn't they say no album in '16?

 

Yeah Matt said late last year that there wouldn't be an album in 2016. Things can obviously change, but, until then, I'll continue to believe we won't get the album until next year.

Damn, so they've got a significant amount planned out. Thought it was just the two I saw. That's awesome.

 

They played The Day I Die and Find a Way Saturday and both sounds exactly like every other amazing national song.

 

The new songs sound so good. I desperately need some more National in my life.

The National’s Matt Berninger Talks “Weird, Math-y, Electronic-y” New Album

Holy shit

 

Heard it LIVE last week when they played at the Greek in Berkeley.
The instrumentals were insanely cool - specifically the drumming - but the vocals seemed to be a work in progress.

It sounded like he was trying to hit notes / tempos/ melodies he wasn't used to doing

 

That sounds... Different. I can't wait to actually hear what it sounds like. Could be really cool.
