  1. FUCK how did I miss that there was a Union Transfer show

Really? Aside from a track or two, I'm the opposite on this after one listen. A lot of it completely lost me. Trouble and High Violet were both a lot more immediately engaging to me. I hope this is a grower.

I cant handle the quality of this rip, turned it off after 2 songs.

  5. Trouble Will Find Me was their least immediate for me. Might be my favorite now though haha

I'd say TWFM was also least immediate for me which is funny because its probably their most accessible? its kinda like their "pop" record just through a National filter much like how this album feels more like their "rock" record.

Yeah, on first listen I only didn't really like Turtleneck. I feel like the record will be a grower even though I liked it immensely right away.

TWFM is their most accessible for sure and has been my favorite, but I bet this one takes over that title soon

Turtleneck was the one thing I wasn't fully on board with at first but it's been stuck in my head all morning, really dug it after a few subsequent listens.

This isn't true. It has tons of crackling at the end of tracks. This isn't the proper way to listen to a new The National record for the first time.

I listened to it through studio headphones and couple times now and it didn't bother me at all.

Love Matt describing the effects of different pills:

This one's like your sister's best friends in a bath calling you to join them
    Can't avoid them

This one's like your mother's arms when she was young and sunburned in the '80s
    It lasts forever

Can't wait to hear this but between it being a vinyl rip and wanting to give LCD and Alvvays some breathing room I'm fine waiting til Friday. Expectations are very high if it really is like Boxer 2.

This album is incredible. I might think it's their best. But special mention needs to be made of I'll Still Destroy You. It's one of the most incredible songs I've ever heard, no hyperbole. Lyrically, musically, production-wise, it's just completely perfect.

  22. I would not call this Boxer 2

how is having vinyl crackle at the end of a song "not how you're supposed to hear it"? If anything, it's exactly how you're supposed to hear it haha

Tbh this is better than TWFM
