sonically this album reminds me the most of Boxer. maybe its the loungeroom atmosphere to a lot of these songs.

Gonna wait. Still haven't listened to TWFM yet, or Day I Die. I'll have those to hold me over

 

TWFM was one of my best first listens ever, that record means so so much to me

 

I can't think of a band in the last decade or two who has a better five (or 6, if you're like me and love Sad Songs) album run.

 

Kanye is the only one who comes close for me

 

i have a few that pass that 5 album test thing, especially in other genres, but yeah The National have one of the best 5-6 album runs ever.

 

My heart. I feel so spoiled with outstanding albums this year.

I was very hasty with my "only Kanye comes close" because there are easily like half a dozen more already listed in this thread that do it for me too.

ANYWAY this record is very very very good

 

Kanye, Radiohead, and Drive By Truckers are the first ones that come to mind for me.
