The only song I'm not sure about is Empire Line. Other than that, this is perfection. I love how loose they sound. I was listening to the pitched version, didn't know there was an accurate copy floating around ): bummmmmer, would love to hear it. Soon enough though!

This is phenomenal

Kinda not really into "Turtleneck" after my first listen but that's more because it's totally not what I was expecting in the middle of the record and I was thrown off a bit. "I'll Still Destroy You" and the title track in particular floored me but there is so much top tier work from the band on here.

 

I love Turtleneck. I even like Empire Line a lot.

 

i still hate turtleneck (the chorus is so ponderous). i think empire line is super good though. i'm surprised at the reactions to the title track as it felt a little aimless to me after the unbelievably crushing closers of the past few records but i guess it really fits this particular album

 

Carin at the Liquor Store still destroys me every time

 

Love Turtleneck, love Empire Line, closer is a masterpiece

 

you need a song like Turtleneck on an album like this, I think.

this is my favorite band and I can't begin to express how pleased I am with this album. it sounds like Boxer's weird older brother to me. just perfect

Pretty sure I can't imagine a more perfect day than starting off with a new National record in the morning and having the Twin Peaks finale at night.
